My lower a/c hose had been broken and left opened to the air for two years. I have recently replaced the lower hose. So, is my a/c dryer shot now with all the water vapor trapped inside? (During the last two years, I never turned on my a/c though.) Can I ignore the dyer and recharge the system with R134a?

If I were to do it right, what else I need to replace besides the dyer?
What is the difference between factory dryer and aftermarket ones? Courtesyparts charges almost 100 for that unit while an aftermarket one costs less than 20. Weird.

Thanks guys.

You're going to want to have the a/c system put into a vacuum for at least 15-30 minutes. That gets the moisture out of the system. Do that after replacing the dryer. On second thought, don't our systems use an accumulator instead of a dryer?

So replace that dryer, and then do a vacuum to suck out all the moisture inside correct?

Here are the exact part I found (they have their own names):

Yes get a new drier, vacuum the system 15-60 minutes and recharge. You should be good to go after that.

As for the difference between Nissan and after market drier's I don't know, but I have used both with no ill effects.

Also if your drier has been open for more than 24 hours then its pretty much no good.
