hi gurus
im a new member to this forum (but ive been reading about ca/sr/rb engine in the engine tech thread for quite some time)...
so i registered with hopes that you guys could assist me in settling my annoying issue
the stat of my car is as follows;
car: suzuki vitara 3 door 1997
engine: ca18DET (m/t) from Nissan 180SX with GT25 (from sr20det)
my issues concern both my gears and also ECU
firstly, it concerns my gear shifting
everytime i go above 100km/h (100-180km/h that is), whatever i do in the following will result in grinding noise coming from my gearbox
a) lift my feet 50% from the accelerator
b) press the clutch only
c) press the clutch and go into neutral
problem is, when i re-press the accelerator the grinding noise go off but if i do whatever the above the grinding noise returns
the only way for me to downshift or go into neutral is to press the brakes until it goes down to anything below 50kmh then i can downshift or go into neutral
if i downshift earlier or simply go to neutral , the grinding noise will remain until the speed is down to <50kmh
i havent checked if the tranny is oiled with good racing oil or not (will do it sometime end of this month)
but any other thoughts?
about the synchromesh or bearings or the teeth?
i've given some thought about clutch bearings too
just to note that when i say grinding noise, its LOUD GRINDING NOISE
secondly, my ecu
whenever i reach >60km/h my ecu will start to whir or buzz and it will stay that way until i put the speed below 50kmh
im quite a noob when it comes to doing my car with my own hands...i have a good friend who's a mechanic in our local rally or track championships looking into this (But he hasnt looked at the above issues yet)
lastly, an unrelated question, how do i know if my engine has an o2 sensor cuz my FC has been crappy lately
would like to know whether the thing needs replacement or not
