1-way is a standard remote that you are use to. 2-way means that the remote will instantly report back to you that it did or did not receive the signal. Whether it be an LED that lights up to confirm(like on the 3202, 5301 or 5701) or an LCD screen that confirms.

These are cake to install on an S13 and S14. I also include the vehicle specific wiring locations with the purchase. So that will make it much easier. It's still going to take you most of the day, but take your time and you shouldn't have any issues.

They are the same thing, but the 5701 has the addition of the standard Viper alarm features: siren, built-in shock sensor, door triggers, trunk trigger, hood trigger and starter kill. Then of course you can add any of the accessories to it also.

Actually, the 5002 was literally discontinued this week and I sold my last one today. I tried to edit this thread earlier today, but it won't let me anymore. However, the Viper 350 Responder 2-way is the same thing for all intensive purposes. It came out last year. It just has the gray remote instead of the blue one.

The 3303 is the new age 5002 though. It uses all of the new technology that is in the new remote start systems. It is even Smart Start compatible.

The 5901 is just like every other Viper remote start/alarm combo, but it is a 1 mile range system and utilizes their new LCD screen remote. The LCD remote is rechargeable through any mini USB or the mini USB that comes with it. The standard alarm features are: dual stage shock sensor, starter kill, door/trunk/hood triggers. You can add any accessory that I have listed to it, including the Smart Start. On the remote start side: it can do automatic and manual transmission vehicles, has built in turbo timer, you can check interior temp and battery voltage from the remote. You can have it automatically remote start if it gets down to a user specified voltage or interior temperature.

Personally I would do one of the new systems.... the 3203 or 3303. They are both 2-way confirming, but the 3303 will notify you of triggers instantly if someone messes with your car. You could also do the SmartStart module if you wanted unlimited range and unlimited notification range. You will definitely want the digital tilt sensor. The battery backup is also nice for those just-in-case moments. The glass sensor detects glass shattering. The built-in shock sensor detects vibration. So if the shock sensor is set to a very sensitive level, then it will trigger by exhaust or a train etc. The optional glass break sensor will not trigger from exhaust systems or anything else really. Both the built-in shock sensor and glass break sensor have sensitivity adjustments.

I always recommend doing it yourself. You can learn along the way. Just take your time and give me a shout if you have any questions.

Correct, you could have your car in Cali and as long as you have cell coverage in New York, it would notify you in New York. Or you could arm it up from New York. Basically the SmartStart makes your phone into a limitless range remote.

Ok, on the Volvo, no extra parts are needed for the door locks. You would need a TBXKEY for the coded key though. You will have to take one of your keys(valet key is fine) and put it inside this module.

The Lexus has a goofy locking system where you have to run two wires into the door and wire a relay along with some diodes. If you buy stuff from me, I always send all documents and any little extra parts at no charge. So the stuff for the door locks would be included. You would want to remind me when you make payment.

Keep in mind that the Viper Responder One will only unlock the doors, not lock...... it does not have keyless entry built into it.

As far as oil sensor no. I have never even seen a system of any brand that has that. Although I'm pretty sure there is a brand out there that does.

For anti-grind, all Vipers have a programmable output that you would wire a relay just like a starter-kill circuit. So during remote start, the starter wire is interrupted and therefore cannot grind if you turn the key too far. Any Viper remote start that also has an alarm will obviously have this "built-in" since it has an actual starter-kill relay built into it for the alarm portion.

The installation of any system will not interfere with the OEM keyless. However, your OEM keyless may not work while the vehicle is running. Which means it also won't work while the vehicle is remote started. This is why they add the unlock feature on the systems that are only remote start. Otherwise you would have to use the key in the door to unlock it while remote started or shut the remote start down then unlock it with the OEM remote. You can simply test this by starting your vehicle and seeing if the OEM remote will still unlock the door. If not, then you would want to hook up the unlock feature on the Viper Responder One, or simply buy the 5301 which has keyless built-in.

Yes and yes! I include an extra relay and wiring just in case you have type-F(one wire) door locks. If you have plain negative trigger door locks then the Viper can control those without any extra parts. I also include vehicle specific wiring info with every purchase. I have them in stock and ready to go.

Yes, I have all units in stock!

Alarm systems are fairly easy installs. It may make it a little easier since you already have the wires tapped for the one you currently have in there.

The VRS option is fairly worthless, that's why DEI doesn't put it in their systems anymore.

Here is the definition from their site:

"Anti-Carjacking Feature (VRS)

VRS is a user-operated anti-carjacking system. Once activated, if your vehicle is carjacked, 30 seconds later the siren will start screaming for help and the lights will flash. When the carjacker pulls over and turns off the ignition, the starter kill will activate, which should prompt the carjacker to then abandon your vehicle for eventual recovery."

The 5701 is a nice system. I prefer the 5901 or 5902 because of the longer range and LCD remote. You can then add additional sensors to any of the Viper systems. I include vehicle specific wiring information that will tell you the wiring colors, polarity and location of all the wires you will need to install the Viper. The Viper system itself will come with its own manual.

The 3203 and 3303 are the same things as the 5701 and 5901 respectively... just without remote start built in. However, the range on the 5901 is 1 mile, while it's 2000 feet on the 3203, 3303 and the 5701. Correct, the only real difference between the 5701 and 5901 is the range and remote.

The remote start module would be $69. The remote for the 3303 would be $89, but are not available yet for individual purchase.

As far as the side compartments, I usually use magnetic switches... there really is no other good option. They run $5 each.

The 350 2-way will get "up to" 1500 feet. It will average in the 750 feet range. So you would obviously need to be within range in order to receive trigger notifications. You can not upgrade the $99 system to a 2-way remote. The 2-way technology is a combination of the remote, the brain box and the antenna.

If you do not want a remote start, then the Viper 3303 and 3203 are the only security systems that are compatible with the Smart Start. Correct, the Smart Start works with Android. I use it on my EVO 4G... very cool setup!

Yeah, no idea on your issue... that's impossible to determine without looking at it. And to be honest with you, I can't think of a single thing it could even be, aside from a bad alarm unit maybe.

If security is all you want and compatibility with the Smart Start, then you have two choices: 3203 and 3303.

So are you wanting the window roll-up module?.... that's what you posted a link to. If you are wanting a 2-way security/remote start, then you have three options: 5701, 5901 and 5902. All of them will control the extra sensors you listed and all of them are compatible with the Smart Start. I personally would choose either the 5901 or 5902. I can email you a wiring tech sheet for the S13 if you make a purchase. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

No problem man, it is another $35 for shipping beyond the amount I already factor into the price for shipping. So $244 shipped for the Viper 5501. It would take 6-10 days to get there. I do not have any wiring info on the S15. My wiring database is for US and imported to US automobiles.

Just so you know, the Viper remote starters are designed to work on manual transmissions.... so I don't know if that will change your mind on the S14!?!

Personally I would do 2-way systems on all of them. Even a Smart Start if you want to spend the extra cash. For the vert you will want a motion sensor(509U) at the very least in addition to the security system. So technically you could do the same system on all three of them if you wanted to. Do you have any idea of which model(s) you may be interested in? Or do you have an overall budget you are hoping to stay around?

The remotes look different because on 2-way models they give you one 1-way remote and one 2-way remote. The 2-way remotes are expensive so they package only one since only one is generally going to be used most of the time. The 2nd remote generally only serves as a backup. This helps keep the cost of the unit down for consumers.

As for the difference in the systems, the main difference is whether or not the system is a 2-way and then the range of the system. The 2-way is especially nice for remote starting and receiving alarm trigger notifications on the remote. So you might want to think about getting the 5701 for the truck.

Please let me know if you have any other questions on certain models. A lot of my customers assume things about certain models incorrectly or are misinformed by other sources on which models do what.

Sorry for the late reply man, this thread was accidentally on lock down. The 3303 is a killer alarm, especially with all of the add-on sensors. The ultra sonic sensor actually detects changes in air movement. It's basically a motion detector, but more reliable than the 508D proximity sensor. The 3303 is also compatible with the Smart Start and Smart Start GPS if you have a smart phone and want the ultimate in protection.
