suggetions for an essay topic relating to cars?

hey guys, i'm writing this paper that should be on a social issue we have today. I chose the topic "illegal guns and urban death" or something like that but i think i want to do something that's car related... problem is i really can't think of any social issue relating to cars. Anyone have an idea?

Um, traffic, commuting, our total dependance on cheap and plentiful oil, the stigma of mass transit, the future of automobiles, our emotional connection with the automobile (turning 16, first car, drive in movies, the notion of freedom it provides even in traffic choked LA), pollution, or how to solve any or all of these issues (check out the new urbanism and a book called Suburban Nation).

I think there could also be comparisons to the golden age of the automobile in the 50's and 60's with the emmision choking 70's and 80's or the appliance they have become today lacking character yet highly functional, sophisticated, and cheap.

The evolution of the assembly line and how it effected ownership and the recent introduction of just in time delivery.

The rise and fall of detroit

By the way, what level class is this for?

Are you looking for how an engine works kind of paper or just something related to the automobile in general?

This topic can easily be adressed in 7+ pages. Or you can do what i did...get a pirated paper from the internet about aids and get a B+ on it. I only read it two times and luckily the teacher didn't ask me too many questions about it :boink: :boink: :boink: :boink:

I am only kidding about the second suggestion. I feel realy bad about that and got very lucky!
