Muffler for big V8

There are so many mufflers out there and they all claim to give the best sound and best hp gains. lol

What's a good one for a big V8? (5.9) I want it to be loud, but not crazy and sound like a muscle car.

On my Jeep, I only have the cat and 1 big muffler, no resonator.

The muffler is leaking so I want to change it to something good. Should I get a glasspack? Magnaflow? Borla? Should I just put a piece of pipe?

Same question for the cat, should I put a high flow one? What's a good high flow cat? Should I just take it out? Would it fuck up my OBDII?

I was thinking maybe this Flowmaster 44 Off-Road since it's armored for off-roading:

Obviously it won't sound exactly like that cause I don't have an aftermarket cam. lol

so you want it kind of loud? flowmaster 40's have never gone wrong on a v8 application.

Long tube headers, high flow cats, and dual 2.5 inch piping to flowmaster 40 series mufflers.


Personally, I'd use magnaflows. I find the flowmasters to be very boring. Give Spintech a try. They make a neat sound.

in all honesty, i want to use some Cherry Bomb mufflers on my Galaxie (390ci), just because the Cherry Bomb decal is cool. they make a few flowmaster-esque, non-glasspack mufflers.

I'd probably go with a Flowmaster Super 44, or like a 40 series. Either one would probably sound pretty sweet.

Oh yeah!!! CHERRY BOMBs are awesome, freaking loud, and awesome. I've never heard the chambered mufflers, but I had long tube headers on my Nova (sbc 350 ci), 3" at the outlet, and had 3" CHERRY BOMB glass packs bolted straight to the headers, (they came with a flange on the inlet side), and they we're like 16" long. That was my whole exhaust system for a while, and they ended right under the driver and passenger seats. I definetely put that sticker on my window. Sooo tight.

Back on topic: I probably wouldn't put glasspacks on a jeep though. I think your looking for more of a deep tone, like you'd get from a Flowmaster.
