Hey Guys i have been thinking about trying to convert to E85 on my KA-T and was wondering what everyone else's experiences were with this kind of a set-up. Currently i have arias pistons, greddy turbo kit with FMIC and 500cc injectors...other than upgrading the injectors to 1000cc is there anything else that i should do...also i was wondering if anybody is running this setup if it is more fuel efficient and others...it is my daily so im kind of hesitant because of convenience, but im not sure. Any Feedback would be awesome!!!

I would upgrade the rods and get some ARP headstuds. The pistons are actually NOT the weakpart of the motor it's the rods which tend to break at 300+hp (I know there are exceptions)

for what I hear E85 is the stuff, cheaper, higher octane and cleaner exhaust?

a few things to consider:
- how far is your commute?
- how accessible is e85 to you? (fill points at both sides of commute?)
- would the cost of conversion really justify the PITA finding a station will be?

i was talking to cyrus about this, he runs e85 in the megan 240. i was thinking about doing it to my daily SR. he said its not really worth it for the hassle of how fast it corrodes shit. fuel pumps, lines, etc...

up to you though. the benifits are pretty tempting...

Running E85 is less fuel efficient than gasoline, there is less stored energy in it. Fuel economy goes down by about 15 to 20 percent.

However, as mentioned before, it's really high octane.

you live in SD! you need to call jason
he will set you up good
he tuned my e85 ka-t and he personally has a 730whp Ka-t!
pm me ill give you his number

i noticed a huge improvement with mid range!
i made 380whp with slipping clutch at 15psi only!

jason where in SD? what shop?
hmmm... i'm still tempted. heh.
might see if he can at least tune my SR for US pump gas.
(PFC still set for japan hi octane)

ummm what?? :bs: the ringlands are the weak point of the ka, the rods are usually good for closer to 400hp. But yeah that is all

yeah i agree.
back in 99 my buddy got a turbo kit prototyped from Fmax for his 96 altima. he had a boost spike (manifold crack or something caused it), and melted the piston right at the lands.

Usually with e85 you are recommended to replace you fuel feed line with at least -6 line, and e85 is cheaper at an average of 2.60 a gallon but it actually burns 30% faster than gasoline. i was considering e85 but the corrosion factor and the extended preparation turns me away. i would rather just run c16 and save money.
