did you replace the distributor? it probably gets worse. i think the problem will be solved by replacement.

Not sure what you're stumped on...the light still being on? Or is there still a knock? If the oil light is still on and the level is good, i'd check the signal wire.

the light and noise are both still ther.
i checked the wire ans the oil pressure switch ther fine

would it be cuz the distibutor is a s14 ka one?
seeing that the motor is a s13 ka?
i think it wouldnt matter ther the same motor?

s14s and s13s use different distributors

ohh would that be causeing the problem?
why thou
would that cause the noise and no oil pressur?

i know the bad/wrong distributor would cause noise. but i dont know why you dont have oil pressure. i would guess your ECU gets wrong signal from some sensors. i just give you some ideas and hope it helps.

s14s and s13s use different distributors

and there is differences in the head slightly, and different valve cover and front timing cover etc.

Dude should look into removing the upper timing chain guide then report back.

As for the Dizzy, yes, s14 is internal coil (has 4 wires coming out of it), s13 has 5, (one of wich goes to the fender) ...you could very well be missing that.

the distributors are physically the same. atleast the alum housings so that would have no bearing on the timing. obviously he has the right distributor and ecu for his chassis since he says it starts up. my daily driver KA flashes the oil light during start up, and always has. the wood pecking sound is the sound of the chain rubbing on a worn out guide OR an old tensioner not holding enough tension on a guide causing it to sorta flop. ive had both happen.

as far as the heads the valve cover portion is the only difference. ive seen some people run into issues with the bolts that go through the front of the head for the timing cover not lining up perfectly but thats from people decking the heads without decking the front cover as well OR putting some random cover with a random head.

should see if oil is getting to the top of the engine maybe theres no oil pressure to the head maybe block passage

THANKS guys for the tips!!

Next time check to see if the motor is S14 or S13.

The valve cover on the S14 has a long tab which a bolt goes through, towards the back, exhaust cam side.

The Valve cover on the S13 doesn't h ave the tab.

That's how you know it's an S13 or S14 according to the head's valve cover.

And S14's use Crank Angle sensor so the s14 distributor doesn't have a wire for the coil. S13 = 5 spark wires, s14=4 spark wires.
