View Full Version : Pics of my project....

here's some pics of my car, obviously it's under construction right now, but you get the idea.
now before any flaming starts:
1)there is a SR waiting for it when it gets out of the paint shop, so it's not just a cosmetic job, the front end wus a little banged up when i got it, and i had the means to do the conversion and motor, so i did.
2) it's not painted yet, and it's dirty, so i know it looks gross
3)sideskirts and rear are on their way
now... enjoy, comments are welcome...:D

Tight. Good job on NOT putting the front end on an s14...it actually looks good on an s13 hatch.

Very nice! Any ideas on what kinda wheels you will be using?? Is this going to be a car that will see any track time??

I know they are $$$ but some rear wide fenders would look fuggin dope! Just completes the S15 look IMO.. car looks great so far! Keep us updated

Thanks for the comments guys
yah I definitely like the s15 front on s13 fastbacks way more than s14's too.
I have bronze Volk GT-A's at home for it, 17x7 &17x8
The car will absolutely see track time, of course I'll be careful with it, but I'm building this car to enjoy, not to let it marinate in my garage.;)
Thanks for the feedback guys, keep it coming, and I'll keep you guys updated with the progress, so far I love it, it makes me:boink:

Damn, man, u have MY PRoject! hahaha
only I started with the engine first, and will be going with Volk GT-N wheels :/
Gotta say, it looks MIGHTY nice!
Details on the setup? Fenders welded or fiber? Where from? did you have to do the radiator support or did you go brackets?
I'm pretty damn close to starting the exterior of my car :)
SR powered SIL1540 :D

07-08-2003, 12:37 PM
Thanks Yoshi, yah I thought about GTN's too, nice rims also...
The fenders are real West Yokohama (great fit)
I used the s15 radiator support and I have to say it fit perfectly, and it really helped to keep everything lined up and mounted correctly.
Only other modification required was relocating the stock hood hinges to fit the s15 hood.
what bumper are you planning on going with Yoshi?

if you're going to get track/drift time, be careful, one sideways smack and that pretty frontend is gonna get shot to hell.
i lost count of the # of times i smacked my sideskirts or bumper into a cone at 50mph+ and gave my blessings to the abs plastic god when nothing but a dust mark was there to show for it.
for a demonstration of the fiberglass vs. factory abs plastic. just look at the jspec s14.5 vs FD collision this past weekend. the FD got away with minimal damage (if any at all) but the jspec s14.5 got bumper/fender and maybe light damage. but then again, it was rearend vs front end.
anyways, just be careful, and yeah, s1580s are sweet

Yah, fiberglass can be fragile, I'll have to be carefull, probably take off the bumper when i go to the track... but i just can't resist:cool:
Nice car man. If you dont want to use your bumper for track i would suggest getting the urethane OEM s15 bumper its got style and it can handle bumps and bruises:boink:

First off... battle scars like patched or taped fiberglass bumper are the SHIIT!!! Wear them with pride, and EXPECT it, so it wont bum you out..
Next. Sweeeeeet S15 Sil80! one of the best starts i have seen.
Finally (I feel like I am the Grinch or something when it comes to making suggestion on peoples cars lately)... ditch those wheels man. No offense whatsoever, but I think small width wheels like that ruin what could be an outstanding Sil80. Get 17x9 +20 or lower all around, or do with 18s for the rear, same width..9 or 9.5 Dont worry about not having enough power to brea loose a big tire, 215s and 225 fit fine!!!:D

07-08-2003, 02:06 PM
yah Dorifto, I do agree with you on the rims, im not quite sure how they're gonna look yet, I would've gotten 18's, but they don't make GT-A's in 18's. I think as long as i get sum fat tires on em and lower the car enough it'll look good, but if not, I can always sell them and have plenty of $$$ to buy new rims, lolz, those hoes were expensive:mad:

EEEk fat tires look nasty on narrow rims. If I were in your situation I would sell them now while they are brand new and never used. Then PM FA and Zilvia memeber "ruf". He is having a group buy on Advans (He's the MAN... he owns Reflex Racing in Tx.). Get some Model 5s. 17x9 front and 18x9.5 rear...
Dousan_PG

model 5s
kruezer
both advan models rock
the volk 57s are pretty cheap too! :) too bad no larger then 17s though..sigh..
i still want some kei office wheels after seeing them in person!

even though the Gram Lights 57S were priced pretty well, the price has gone up now and are costs more than the 57C's....;)

Why dont you wrie a PM like I said and find out what you have to do... I never said there was any post on it. Joe told me about it today when I talked to him. Anyway, Im sure the more the merrier, but no dreamers... just pick the wheels you want, look at the cash sitting in your piggy bank, and give Joe the sizes you want.

You are well underway! Just dont get into a hurry and try to detail the hell out of that engine bay. You will not have a better chance than now. Make the steering box look as new, all the firewall and clean the crap out of it and sand while in there and repaint.
Be patient.
You now can take things like the PS res. and detail it to perfection and clear coat it. Make it all look new!
Make it your baby.
A very fine looking project and I like the nose.
Good work.
Keep us posted as to your progress..
Remember, make it tight!!!!!!!

I personally think the importfan conversion is fugly, i don't like the bumper, kit, paint or rims on their car, but that's jus my opinion
Doriftokouki: that's a really nice conversion, specs on it? those fenders look really wide.

I really like those wide fenders, not too crazy about the grill in the back tho, plus then you would have to have wide rear fenders to match....and the less fiberglass body panels the better, and easier to fix, lolz.

Actually fiberglass is pretty easy to fix. If it is a minor thing, a crack in fiberglass will need new resin, maybe some glass on the backside, and some sanding. Painting to make it disappear. A dent in metal is hard to get out, especially if you are a DIY type and want to fix it yourself. Of course in a more major thing, both will be unrepairable...

That's true with minor stuff, but i mean that sheet metal is generally alot tuffer and can take more of a beating than fiberglass, and it's alot easier to replace a stock 240 body panel than to order a new custom fiberglass one.

07-09-2003, 01:28 PM
if u track a lot..you want backups of EVERYTHING.
i find that out more and more everytime i go to track
new body panels, extra suspension, more wheels tires, suspension pieces
depends how far your willing to go ;)
go fiberglass. if you are beginner stay stock style. it will cost you less. :)
doriftokouki
07-09-2003, 01:43 PM
Take dousans advice, I have recently started to drift my S14, just from practicing in a parking lot we have here i can feel how much tred dissapears after each run, so tires alone will cost alot. If your just starting, keep the stock body and forget about the small dings and scrapes, until you get good, a body kit wouldnt be smart, I want to throw the uras kit on my car, but that will be in time, I know i will have mishaps with walls, cones, and for some people even red & white track dividers ;) especially since I am just starting out. cheap wheels and decent suspension is what im going for until my skill improves.

hey i know that guy!

tsk tsk!
and and MOST IMPORTANT
if you plan to drift or heavily track or even track your car..
DO NOT BE EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO IT!!
everytime you go on the track you run the risk of destroying it. do not let the car become your girlfriend/wife. think of it as your bitch. you shouldnt care about what happens to it if you track it a lot. no tears please.

Yep...if you do the S15 front end on the fastback you'd better put sideskirts + rearunder also.....otherwise the front will look like a cowcatcher.
