so Apple bought Lala in December, and now they're killing it. Lala streamed full songs, and often full albums, but you could only listen to each track once. it was a nice way to listen to new music, and then decide if the album was worth buying. you know, if that was something you were into.

They bought them for their IP's not the service.

So far it has allowed them to go from 10sec previews to 30sec. But the rest of the tech will be incorporated in the next iTunes.

yes, this is nothing new.
I guess it makes sense from a business perspective.
Lala was more or less a competitor to Apple in terms of selling mp3's

agreed it sucks though.
iirc lala mp3's were a bit cheaper.
I use the site frequently for checking out new music.
