Hi, I'm hearing a really loud knock / banging noise coming from my rear end when I go around bumpy corners, rumble strips, etc. Also, I've noticed more traction problems/ wheel hop coming from my diff when in low gear. What problems should I look for?

Suspension mods on my car:
Coilovers
Solid subframe bushings

Old open diff + about 2.5 degrees of negative camber. I definitely think the diff bushings are toast, I'll have to check em out.

I had the same problem with my hatch like a week ago. Every time I would turn a corner left or right, I would hear a banging in the rear. If I was coasting and slam on the brakes, I would hear a banging as well. Grab onto one of the rear wheels and try to sway the car back and forth(left to right or right to left) and see if you hear the same banging sound. For me, it sounded like it was in my gas tank and I read this thread I found that said sometimes the baffle gets broken off in the gas tank and sways with the gas and bangs against the tank. I decided to open up the tank and sure enough the baffle was hanging on by one metal tab and was banging on the inside of the tank. I took it out the little hole(was not easy) and no more banging! I'm not sure if you are have the same problem, but I thought I'd share my experience.

Here's the thread I found: http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/199935-sounds-like-marble-my-fuel-tank.html

^ wtf is this?

anyway yeah i have the same banging sound... i doubt its the tank baffle. its much louder than a "marble". almost sounds like the diff wants to jump out of the car like the diff bushings are bad.
mine has stock open diff
coilovers
ruca
toe rod
~3.5 deg camber

when i let off the gas in 1st gear real hard (no easing off to slow down) is when i hear it most. i have an LSD to put in, and when i do it soon i will check the bushings. hopefully they are okay since i dont want to drop my diff twice... maybe i should order new bushings from nissan before i swap diffs...

Let me know which bushings you end up buying and how they work out

1)check subframe bushings, 2)check where your axels meet your diff those bolts can come loose and fallout, (3)driveshaft to diff also could be loose and banging... (4)or it could be a blown diff.

Just an update: I checked the pillowball mounts on the rear coils & the rear coil on the driver side has a super loose pillow ball mount. I was tightening it forever and it didn't seem to tighten up, it just kept turning with ease. Should I continue to tighten until I feel resistance, or could the pillow ball nut / shaft be bad on the coil?

I have a similar problem
But it also knocks extremely hard when I put the car in first and release the clutch slowly also when I make a tight turn especially u turns it claps to where I think it might break so I push the clutch again and it stops then I have to ride the clutch to complete the u turn or put it in neutral to complete a regular turn this happens all the time on u turns once in a while on reg. Turns and almost all the time when releasing the clutch slowly in first I have a 1.5 nismo lsd stock suspension and a few more mods nothing big

The way the damper is designed, you can crank on that thing all day by hand but the piston and shaft is going to keep spinning freely. What you need is either an allen key is it has a spot on the top to hold the shaft from spinning, or an impact gun that can hit it with enough torque to tighten it up.
