ok, i keep having slight transient misfire issues, and i'm 95% sure it's from my spark timing. "timing by ear" just isn't cutting it, i can't use a timing light since the SR has coil packs, and none of the shops or mechanics i've talked to has any idea how to set the spark timing with coilpacks someone please help. i have read HT's write-up on spark timing like 8 times and it still makes no sense to me...
I am sure you can use the timing light mine was set like that and you just move the cam angle sensor to advance or to retard the timing.

i know you move the CAS to adjust timing, but you cannot use a timing light because the SR's plugs are given power by coil packs, not spark plug wires, and thus there is nothing for the "inductance loop" on the timing light to pick up.

There should be a Black Loop at the back near the 4th plug. Hook the pick up there and you should be in business, unless it was cut. If that happened check www.srswap.com for instructions on making a induction wire. Make sure you have a inexpensive timing gun also, nothing too fancy or you'll get bad readings.

aha, so HT's instructions are for an induction wire :D
so i set the spark timing by the loop near coilpack-4? is the loop back there just like a tiny skinny wire? that's all i saw...

Yup that's the one, looks like a black rubber band.
