New 240sx owner needs help. I picked up a 98 240sx with a redtop sr20 swaped already in. It has a zenki cluster. From my research that should be in a 95 96 and very early 97's. I should have kouki cluster, right? Does this mean I have redtop sr20 spliced into zenki harness transplanted in a kouki? If that's the case, how screwed am I working on this thing being noobish?

Thanks in advance for any help.
I did seach. Alot.
Sorry if any of this is noob.

@Ceepo

The car runs great right now. I was only confused when I picked up a kouki cluster tricked out with cyberstork gear. Haven't tried yet but now my research tells me it's not going to work. Fine. But now my concern is with nodding and general electrical issues down the road. If the above is right does this make things even harder electrical speaking or nothing to worry about? Thanks.

The Pinout and plug arrangement on the Zenki cluster is different. Are you certain you bought a 1998?

Sounds like you got a zenki with a kouki front end + redtop...It's a real pain to swap clusters like that

Yeah hopefully, that's what it says on the title. Hehe. That's where my confusion comes in. From my understanding the plugs or harness of a zenki cluster shouldn't even fit or plug into a kouki.

More info:
Speedo doesn't work. Waiting on speed sensor.
Temp and rpm work though.

Thanks everyone for helping.

Actually the cluster swap is stupidly easy if you know how to check FSM's. I don't know why it has a zenki cluster, that's a new one.

Cluster could have gone out and owner had a Zenki cluster around. Then again, you need the plugs too since the plugs are different...

look at the vin plate. it will have the year listed on there.

You mean the Build Plate?

Also, above the Build plate on the firewall the Vin is Etched into the Firewall.

Pop the cluster to see if the harness has been rewired for the cluster.
