Hey guys,

I'm buying my first car ever. I'm 18 and need a car for fun and for school next year. What better car than a 240sx? There is one car that I am looking at very seriously...Pear White 1996 240sx SE 5-speed with 90,000 miles, the owner is asking $5,600.

Here is my problem. I live in southern Illinois. Souther Illinois=no 240sx's. This '96 240sx is 650 miles away. It has a decent interior and exterior. However, I have no idea how it drives. What do I do? Ask the guy to take it to a Nissan dealership and have them check it out? Seriously, i have no idea how to go about doing this. Could some of you more experienced car buyers help me out a bit? Any other info is appreciated too...like whether i'm getting this car at a good price or not.

Thanks a ton!

peace
Mike

When shopping for my S14, I gave up looking locally. I found mine on autotrader, just outside of Nashville, TN, in Murfreesburo. . it was worth the drive

I doubt you'll be disappointed. . my car now has 111k miles, and there's nothing wrong with it at all. . few scratches on the paint, but easy fix, and still shines nicely. . NOTHING wrong mechanically, but I would like a new clutch (would be first replacement since new)

Go check it out dawg.

Yeah, st. louis is the closest city to me and it doesn't have jack**** as far as s14's go. I really don't care how far I have to go to get it (seriously, I'm willing to use my Northwest Visa miles and fly to California if I have to  but it would be worth it :D )

I'm just having trouble finding one at all. It needs to be a
5-speed 95-96 SE of any color except gold with 90k miles or less. I'm willing to spend up to 6k on it.

Well, I guess the search will continue...

I really love S14's, they are a dying breed for sure. I'm looking for a new one as well, but it looks like im gonna have to drive well over 70 miles to get the one i want. Good luck with your car hunting!

Anuis9228, you live in San Diego! How hard can it be to find a 240sx on the west coast?!?! :aw: You're one luckey guy to only have to drive 70 miles. I will most likely fly from st. louis to california to get myself my dream 240sx.

Hey, I just thought of this, if you find a good deal- $6k 95-96 240sx SE 5-speed with less than 80k miles, would you PM me or e-mail me? I'm really dead serious about this. I don't expect you to look all over kingdom come for me, but if you by chance happen to stumble over an s14 for sale with the previously mentioned specs, could you give me a shout? That would be sooo freaking awsome. My only way of finding an s14 is hoping the people selling them put them on ebay or autotrader.com.

Gosh darnit, why must the s14 be so elusive?!?!

I'll keep on trying........
