It killed no more people than died from regular seasonal flu.


The fact is that it was majorly overblown by the media, which caused some overzealous acts (Egypt ordering pigs be killed, among other things), but the scare also pushed Pharma companies to not drag their asses and get something done before it became a REAL problem.
It is worse that it takes these fucking scare tactics to get anything done, but it was kinda necessary.
