This car was spotted by a member of VWVortex, and he snapped a few pics. Note RHD, but Infiniti and G35x badging.

Apparently its being shown at consumer clinics, which is good news.

Does the newest version of the Stagea still have the RB26DETT or did it also switch to the VQ?

the RB26DETT is dead, and very few Stageas had it anyway. the easiest way to look at it is this: if its a nissan, it has a VQ35DE. just stick with that assumption and you will be right about 85% of the time, which is decent odds. ;)

This may be a dumb question, but I need to know...

Why are they using the VQ35DE in almost every car they coming out with? Is it to save productions costs on the car? therefor giving the customer a better deal?

I just find it odd they using the motor in the sports cars to suv's but just retunning it a little bit.

Save on production costs, parts and labor (in some cases).

I wonder where the heck this person spotted that car. I thought it would be covered up and not out in the open like that. Anywho, its a wagon and not my cup of tea. Infiniti is becoming better and better....I can't wait for the new M45.

Most car companies use the same engine in various bodies. Its the smart business thing to do. There are so many cars in one company, making a different engine would be a waste.

Most differences come in weight, suspension, body design, interior, and tranny.

I am sure you wouldn't say anything if we got the old Stagea here. Or STi Wagons.

M45 is out already, i have seen a couple of them on the streets already (and at the dealership).

the VQ35DE is an awesome engine, even though its a V6. its pretty much the best V6 made by any manufacturer, so if nissan wants to put it in multiple cars, i guess its ok. but the bottom line is that its a great powerplant.

ermmmm.......i read the vq35de was used because of the weight balance. Since its a V6 instead of inline6, that means that its shorter, inturn keepin more weight near the cars center of gravity; makes car handle better in the long run.
Ive seen it in the JGTC cars, sklines running vg30dett motors...there was one in Super Rice (superstreet) the Top Secret R34 i think.

(super street maybe a ricers mag, but thers nice articles in it from time 2 time)

P.S. - Im Back wif Nissan!!!!!:)

It's been out for quite a while, but is absolutely not selling. Infiniti will be giving insane rebates/financing options on it to move out the '03s and bring in the '04 model year cars. I guess Americans don't dig the JDM tYte Gloria/Cedric stylez :D.

i think you're right, on the first picture that shows the G35x emblem, if you look closely you can see there is a differect colored square around it than the rest of the car

I was concerened about it being photoshopped as well, but aside from the paint mismatch around the G35 badge, everything else looks fine. Note the tiny Infiniti letters below the plate. The grill is very different from the Stagea grill. The Golf in the background is US-spec. I'm guessing the paint difference may be covering up a painted Stagea trim level or nameplate.

It doesn't look pchopped at all to me... however, that butt does look really, REALLY ugly. I love the front end, but everything behind the rear wheels just looks horrible. The old Stagea (Staega?) had a nicer rear end, but didn't quite have as nice a face.

One of the meanest drift cars I've seen was an __R34 Staega with the RB26. That was Sweeeeeet.

I hope G35X means Allwheel drive as this furthurs the g35 = skyline cause. but those are not G35 headlights and even when going to a wagon config. you would figure the front half is usually kept the same. Still , by all means, I think it is a beautiful car.
