Automatic Transmission Trouble

Hi Guys,

Having issues with my car and was wondering if anyone could offer some help:

Car is a 1991 hatch, Ka24de with 112,000 kms on engine and transmission
never had any problems - but recently upgraded brakes to s14 front and back and swapped rims for 18x8.5 in the front and 18x10.5 in the rear.

Car drove fine for a month but then car got stuck in first gear and refused to shift.

When starting symptoms are as follows:

cannot shift out of park unless shift lock is deployed
OD light does not light up at all
when in drive car does not shift gears

I know the a large amount of responses will be to swap to manual - but the car has stayed automatic because it sometimes used by others.

Any help would be great and highly appreciated; thanks everyone

and yea 5 speed swap would solve your problem lol

my guess is that it might be a bad ECU? but im not positive. try replacing that or if all else fails the best solution is a 5spd swap lol

or buy a new auto tranny

thought I'd update:

Took alot apart today - shift solenoid was tested with by connecting to power source and works fine - checked all fuses so I'm thinking it may be a relay problem - perhaps with the brake switch.

But I can't understand why that would keep the car from shifting gears while in drive.
