Just curious, how many of you guys would trade in your 240sx for a 510?

I bought my SR20DET before I bought my S13 chassis because I was originally looking for PL510 chassis to throw it inot. However, the 510's are getting rare so it was hard for me to find a decent chassis to start with. Finding a S13 was easier.
I have smog coming up at the end of this year so part of me wants to keep looking for a 510 chassis and once smog comes up, pull my SR and throw it into the 510 then. I won't have to worry about smog afterwards.

Yeah, thats a big reason I wanna get a 510, CA SMOG!
Yeah they are getting a lot harder to find, especially in OK condition...they are either broke down rust buckets or souped up "race cars":(

before getting my s13 i was really looking into the datsun cars, the 510, 240z, the fairlady roadsters, and EVEN the TRUCK. but my parents didnt want me driving a car older than i am:rolleyes: so i ended up with the 240sx.

510's I started out with 510's back in high school. All I can say is today I would not even bother with one. Yes I live in cali yes we have smog. yes if you try you can find a way to smog a SR . If your are not brave of heart though you should not run a SR. i.e. your afraid of getting caught running one. Fact is when I ran 510's we had smog laws and believe me even back then a setup 510 engine or a triple S engine would not pass visual just like now on the 240sx with the SR. Point is things have really not changed much. Back in the 80's a lot of guys ran 510's with triple S engines, kinda like us running SR's. It was the same because a triple s engine would tailpipe but would not pass visual due to the dual sidedraft SU carburetors.
Today 510's are rare ,trashed or expensive not only to buy but keep and maintain.
They were my generations poor mans BMW so all the kids had them.
Just like today the 240sx being the poor mans rear wheel drive sports car or coupe.
If you are going that old, the car to get IMHO is the 240z because its a real classic sports car.
Don't get me wrong 510's are cool but 240z's have more inherent value and collectability. Oh yea at this point in time I would use neither as a daily driver though I do have a few freinds that still do .
In a nutshell trade my 240sx for a 510 ? Are you crazy? Trade it for a 240z depending on the level of mods on the 240sx I was trading any day of the week, hahahahahhahahaha  ;) :D
