That's right, I've never seen them.
I saw 1,2 and 3. I don't really feel the
need to watch the other ones. I know they're
one of those, you-have-to-see movies. I just don't care
for them. Episode 1 was cool cause of Darth Maul, but the other
2 were just terrible. Except for Natalie Portman.

the star wars games are fun.. shadows of the empire on nintendo 64 fueled my interest into watching star wars when i was like 12 or something.

I got the Force Unleashed on ps3 that i need to finish, but yeah the video games add alot to the feel of the series if you havent followed the movies very well.

I've played through two Star Wars games, and have never watched more than 15 minutes of any Star Wars movie.

I <3 Spaceballs, though... Close enough, right?

unless you're 14 or younger, don't worry about it. the original ones were good, but i saw the first of the three new ones and never bothered with the rest.

I always thought that everyone has seen one star wars movie at least once. I guess not after reading this thread. As for me I have the old school movies on VHS.

It's not meant to be a troll thread,
It's just that a lot of people tell me
that I SHOULD watch them. I just don't
feel the need to. Same with The Godfather and
Scarface. Those movies just don't call my attention.

the original star wars movies were episodes 4-5-6. should've started there. the new ones aren't all that great

i acutally just watched 2and 3 again just so i can watch Yoda fight. The fight on episode three, between Yoda and the Chancellor reminds of the fight on the Boondocks, between Stinkmeaner and Grandad lol. Two old ass mofukas getin down

Original SW <> 21st century SW

Very little alike, don't even seem like they were made by the same person, IMO. Seeing one of the new ones and hating it has zero bearing on whether you'll like the originals, unless you just hate all science fiction.

1, 2, and 3 are totally skippable. 4, 5, and 6 are part of the American lexicon.

Fixed that for you.

While there are a modest amount of demitrolls in the thread, I'll humor the few people with genuine opinions with a response.

I understand the lack of enthusiasm for watching a particular film. I don't know if I'll ever see Laurence of Arabia, although I've heard it's great. It took me a very long time to see Gone With The Wind, and I'll admit, I didn't like it that much. It's likely a generational thing, where that which is very interesting to older people is not so interesting to younger people.

Dismissing the original StarWars trilogy for the fact that it's old or because the later films sucked is like saying you're not terribly interested in banging the 29 year old former playboy playmate because you've banged the 21 year old gutterslut. Age is less a factor when it comes to quality.

Yes, the original films are a bit campy, yes the SFX is a bit dated (and fucked with even more with the 1997 revamps), yes, they have old hairstyles, etc.

Their plots, characters, pacing and interesting-ness (fuck you, i can't think of a word that works) far outshine the shitty prequel films.

I can't adequately explain what makes the prequel films suck so badly, but luckily I have a YouTube channel you can watch which will explain it. RedLetterMedia (http://www.youtube.com/user/RedLetterMedia) has done reviews on The Phantom Menace (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI) and Attack of the Clones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfBhi6qqFLA).

Yes, I'm over 30. Now get off my lawn!
