need help!!! frame repair

i am looking to make a frame rail on my 89 s13. I have tried before but the metal was a little too thick. Any suggestions on what gauge metal to use and if any one has dimensions to help or any advice on how to fix it please help. there is on picture. just scroll down.

you can buy a frame rail from the dealer
or cut off a good one off a junk car
and weld it in instead of making one

i was thinking 1/8 inch myself. i have some that was donated to me. MY cousin is a custom fabricator. between the two of us we can do it.
