hey guys i got this 240 with a ka24e block in it, it runs and everything is cool besides a dime sized oil and coolant sized leak. i know the ka24e r pretty slow engines to begin with, but this car is even slower than usual for some reason?

i can hit about 4k rpms, then the car starts to shake horribly, and it can barely reach 6k rpms without the car starting to feel like its gonna fall apart. On top of that, the acceleration from like 0-60 is like i wanna estimate 10 seconds, with all the violent shaking. yah its pretty bad

Stock motor mounts, everything is stock cept a 3inch exhaust, any feedback would be great pleaseee

Start with a simple tune up first. Then go from there.

i already did a tune up, changed spark plugs two times and they all got fouled from running rich apparently, changed fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plug wires, switched mafs with someone

i'm starting to go with a bad ecu maybe? or maybe a bad maf connection, cause this power loss is like BAD, full throttle in second, and the rpms are raising by the 100's very slowly, and to make it worse, it stops at like 4.5k when it finally reaches it

If it sounds like a tractor or a wrx, its your injector, just do the while its on test and pull each connector, if there is no change in one, theres your culprit. happened to me on both 240s I had, same symptoms

thanks man, my injector was my next culprit i was gonna try, ill get bak to you when ive done it

oh and another symptom is when the car gets fully warmed up, and I drive it for a while, the power loss gets wayyyyyyyyyyyy worse

^Change your coolant temperature sensor.

Be sure base timing is set properly along with idle speed. Clean your MAF and throttle body.

k been searching for weeks and no one has ever solved this so..

i changed all my injectors 3 times with working ones, changed fpr, fuel pump, distributor cap, my idle is fine like 3 seconds after startup ( needs gas to start and I gotta rev it to keep it alive the first 3 seconds), cleaned throttle body, cleaned aicv, cleaned maf/switched mafs, changed o2 sensor cuz was running rich and old o2 sensor was broken in half anyways

car STILL bogs cold/hot more worse when hot, car pulls a little harder from 1k-3.5k, after that the car doesn't really go any faster, just gets louder and will NOT reach 4k and up, only in neutral i can reach redline don't know what else to do!!! Only thing i can think of is that my tps is bad, or that when my timing was set I didn't disconnect my tps, and maybe my ecu is bad? last owners said they put in a battery backwards which mightve blew the ecu?

Anyways car still runs rich slightly, backfires, bogs, car feels faster when i put half throttle instead of full throttle , any feedback appreciated :D

lol i wouldnt take a ka24e to 6k from personal experience. Check distributor timing though. Could be bad MAF. I can sell you my ka24e soon when i start putting my rb25 in. or think about saving money for another engine because the ka24e is probobly not going to survive long if its already in bad shape- not to disapoint you.

check the ecu, maybe try another one (cheap somewhere) i had one blow out on me when maf wires cut and short on my ka24e

Step 1: Remove KA24E
Step 2: Insert KA24E in dumpster
Step 3: Get SR and be awesome lol (or any number of swaps for that matter).

But on the real, you've pretty much checked everything and it's still not working out. May just be time to do a swap or if you're saving up for the swap maybe you can find another KA in the mean time?

Try another ECU, you can get them for cheap.

Other than that, make sure your MAF is good (switch with a working one), and check for any vacuum leaks/unplugged hoses/intake is strapped in tightly.

You may want to do a compression test

^^^ yea vacuum leaks sounds like a possible culprit, look for the big vacuum lines, usually they are cracked and old.

I had this same problem. Try the ecu and check all your vacuum lines. Mine never worked out so I sold it haha. But one thing that helped mines was sealing up the exhaust I had a leak that was robbing so much power

Purchase a vacuum gauge(very cheap) and check vacuum at the brake booster.

i had some of the same symptoms on my sohc which is trashed now since it failed on me eventually...but i say check the compression, or u may need new heads, u cant forget that the valvetrain can cause problems too.

like rouge 180 said, go with a swap. Ur gonna end up wasting so much money just to get the car running right when u coulld of saved for another engine. Trust me, ive been in the same situation.

yah ive never actually checked all the vacuum lines, i did try a different ecu, and maf, no change really, i do have a broken stud on bottom right of exhaust manifold before the 02 sensor, could it cause that big of a exhaust leak that could richen my car up that bad?

figured it out :D, my distrbutor was off a tooth, not allowing me to advance my timing enough, so i ghetto rigged it allowing me to turn my distributor past the bolting points allowing me to advance my timing where needed =] car runs hella good now :D thanks for all feedback guys, gotta fix my gas on startup now lol

Yeah those teeth have to be right on it. With my first ka I had that problem took me about 3 times to line the teeth up
