So I bought this SR20 swapped 240sx today. The guy I bought it from knew nothing about forced induction, and had both springs in the blow off valve. The BOV wasn't opening, and therefore causing compressor surge. Now I don't know much about fi just yet, but when I had the BOV off, I revved it. The engine backfired and ran like a bag of dicks, idle hunting. I'm worried I may have done something to the vacuum line, because when I was taking the BOV apart and in my haste, the spring caused the valve to fly apart. I put it back together correctly (i think) and the compressor no longer surges. My BOV is open at idle (should it be?) and my car stalls when I don't give it gas. I hope I didn't screw anything up? Please give me a hand here guys.

You new guys aren't even trying to search! One keyword might not lead you to the exact same problem but damn! It's a resource spend time reading first then maybe maybe you can find the answer.
PS what kind of bov. If you recirculate it while it's leaking all your problems go away!

make sure you have it hooked up to the right vacuum source, AFTER the throttle body, not under it

Also sounds like a small vac leak

I ordered another BOV. The one on here is a "CX Racing" blow off valve, AKA junk. And its atmospheric. I ordered an HKS SSQV3, as well as a turbo timer for my convenience. I intend to recirculate the HKS and see if that solves the problem. My buddy is a mechanic and he looked over it and couldn't find any obvious vacuum leaks.
Anyway, I changed the plugs and oil the other day, motor runs strong as ever, as long as its running.
