So My name is Will and i'm being relocated to SoCal (Downtown LA) sometime in the next while (Jul/Aug) to work for my company's office there. I'm from Toronto, Canada and i originally planned to Drive my s13 down although i highly doubt the car would last the trip across the US (Rust, shitty motor, etc)

So what would i have to be aware of when i'm grabbing a car from that area? cause since I'm from Canada, our main concern is rust on frame rails, strut towers, etc. and all i ever hear is that US Chassis are way more solid but i don't know what to actually watch out for.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give me, it's going to be very much appreciated. Hopefully i can meet some new 240 Owners while i'm out there.

IF you do bring your S13 down, try and keep it registered in Canada if you are swapped or planning to. Work on your back story :cops:

If you are planning on buying a car here, it's pretty much susceptible to all the same problems that you would find on a car in Canada (rust, etc). I'd just be picky as hell, and don't buy someone else's used and abused project. The good news is that its a buyers market right now.

Welcome!

haha i guess all the rumors i heard about the strict emission laws in california are true then? i guess thats one thing im going to miss about Canada

Hmm i never expected to hear about rust in cali to be honest, i figured it would be less likely to happen somewhere that doesnt have snow and salt all over the place but i guess it would make sense.

Thanks for the welcome

yeah, all of those rumors are very true. if you have a swap, you'll have to be a lot more careful down here, especially in LA/inland empire area. but, like blakeZX said, if you keep it registered in Canada, you'll have it a bit easier than others.

Welcome to SoCal!

Keiglo - Hmm, i never thought about it that way, but i'm still rockin my KA, i guess Cali isnt very SR friendly eh? or are the emissions so strict that a SR Swap would get me in trouble in a USDM Car?

Dalaz 68 - I can definitely see what i can do for those interior parts, i think one of my friends are gutting out their coupe too actually. Although im confused as to why you would want that from a canadian 240 lol and I'm working off of 4th Street actually, My Company has the warehouse/office there.

Thanks for the Welcome again, I cant wait to check out the LA 240 scene, it'll be nice to see something different.

haha i was driving without my headlinder for a while because the previous owner of my car had it taken out to fix something, i just got it put back in, no more destroying sunglasses. Those side panels, i'll get in contact with my friend and as long as i'm driving to Cali, i wont have a problem getting them for ya.
