ok the SR swap is on the way and i have a quick question. my car is a HICAS model. the SR most likely won't come with the HICAS pump. but i do have access to one. i just have to send mine as a trade. now if i get a HICAS eliminator bar will i need to worry about getting the HICAS P/S pump? or can i just pull those HICAS lines all out and run the car just like a normal SE with P/S?

so i went ahead and ordered the HICAS eliminator kit last night. can anybody answer my question yet? do i still need to have a HICAS P/S pump for my SR or not.

d00d HICAS is the shizzle. Why would you want to eliminate it? I love my HICAS.

To answer you question no you no longer need a HICAS pump. The only difference that I can tell is the pulley is bigger to provide more power to get to the rear end. Put the eliminator on and loop the lines so you still have pressure there. If you loop the line early enough in the system then you won't need the extra pressure the bigger pulley will give you

but since i am not using the HICAS pump anymore can't i just pull the lines that go to the rear out? and not worry about looping or whatever?

reason i am getting rid of it is b/c i just don't really like the idea of all wheel steering. i'm sure its not one of those things i will regret. i kind of want to get rid of the ABS too, but that is too much trouble.

To completely get rid of HICAS you will have to swap out the steering rack for a non-HICAS rack. If you don't do that you will have to loop something
Edit: there are fittings on the steering rack that can't be "removed" they are cast as part of the rack. So you will need the lines that are coming off of it looped

can you explain "looping" to me? it sounds like you mean just put a loop in the line. any picture just for reference?

The input and output lines that comes off of the front steering rack must be connected together. Any high pressure fitting should work and can picked up at a industrial A/C shop. Sorry I don't have any pics because I like my HICAS:bowdown:
