hey everyone...just some interesting info. I was pulling out my upper timing chain guides today on my DOHC, and i started to thread in the bolt that was previously holding my upper timing chain guide. I got it in and stepped back, and saw that the end of the bolt was about .5mm away from the lower chain on the timing gear...So I snapped this pic to illustrate. I know people have re-installed the bolts after taking out the guide. I dont think that's a good idea because you are running into a clearance issue with the lower chain. Take a look for yourself.

sorry...its a big pic...but its to illustrate in detail...

well i dont think you need to put the bolts in unless you are using the guide as well.

Well, considering that part of the bolt is useless, have you considered cutting/grinding it down to fit properly?

just leave them out like he said. If your not using the upper guide there is no point in throwing them back in.
