Hello everone,

Well, a few weeks back, I bought a SR20det Hatch. It needs a new O2 sensor. I got a new one already, but I cant remove this damn sensor. The vice grip doesn't fit, the crescent wrench is too fat, and there isnt enough space. Trying to do this myself, so if anyone can tell me how they take out theirs then I will greatly appreciate it.

I think the best way is from the top rather then going under the car.

Thanks!

You need something like this:
Amazon.com: Alltrade 648625 Kit 51 Oxygen Sensor Socket Tool Set: Home Improvement (http://www.amazon.com/Alltrade-648625-Oxygen-Sensor-Socket/dp/B0028QGTNG)

I know with my aftermarket turbo outlet I hit the firewall with the O2 Socket and Ratchet.

I use a Crows Foot to get mine on.

Thanks a lot folks. I am going to try autozone. Back up plan: crows foot.

The heater hose is in the way. Its really hard to slide the socket in.

Crescent wrench and Hammer works for me.

I don't understand how you were able to stick the crescent wrench on the O2 sensor. There is no space. I wish I had camera to take some pictures of it.

I'm really enjoying how you're dismissing everyone's suggestions and acting as though this is uncharted territory. Good times.

I have actually went out to purchase the O2 Socket and Crows foot. Sorry, its just that this is my first time taking out an O2 sensor. Its hard to work in limited space.

I am not dismissing anybody's suggestion. Searched through a few forums and haven't found a clear response for this situation. Yes, I know this is a BS/cake job for most, but like I said before, don't know much about specialty tools or the removal of O2 sensors. This is my first 240sx.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Hopefully I can get this out in the next few hours. "Good times."

Thanks a lot. But I finally got it out! A little bit of WD-40 and the 02 Socket wrench made wonders. Just in case anybody is ever stuck in the same situation I was here is what I did:
-Sprayed WD-40 on where the O2 Sensor is connected.
-Unbolted the bracket where the heater hose is connected to so that I can move it side to side (it is still hard to move out of the way but its loose enough to force the O2 Socket wrench in there)
-Sprayed more WD-40
- Found the right position and forced it loose.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

pb blaster, adjustable open wrench, a karate push or a hammer.

Definately PB blaster FTW. WD-40 doesn't do shit on the hard stuff. I use pb blaster on everything. I love that stuff.

How about unbolting the entire exhaust manifold all the way down to the turbo elbow?

If it's that bad then you need to cut/reweld or replace the elbow.

that tool is the biggest piece of shit on the market. if your 02 is seasoned i/e been there for a good while that thin walled socket will flex and slip long before it ever applies enough torque to remove the sensor.

i work at O Reilly and we rent this special set of sockets to remove the 02 that are similar to crows feet except they are fully enclosed so no slipping. work the best out of all the tools we sell for this job.

closest example i could find.
