Well im swapping my sr20det(s13 redtop) from my toasted white car(91) to my new black fastback (92). Okay so got everything in right driveshaft tranny etc etc etc. Only thing not working right is the wiring im pretty sure. I drove the white car home, but the back is so smashed in and theres frame dmg. So, i know the engine and all that is still good, just need help on the wiring. Heres what i've done to try and trouble shoot so far.
-Tested Gas Line (fuel pump) , took off fuel line and used a bottle
to catch gasoline , well to see if it was pumping.
-Tried putting a screwdriver in the coilpack and starting to see a spark...none?
Also tried using voltimeter ...nothing
-Tried checking ECU wiring
I had the car actually turned over at one pt during this testing. I had just installed my turbo timer and i was cranking it. The turbo timer went off so i said wtf. I slammed the door and it came back on? I dont believe its anything related to the door, but rather something is loose? I started cranking it for about 30 or so seconds. It started getting weak sounding, then it sounded like when you start the car when its already started, that "errrrh" sound. Then the car turned over ! I heard a loud backfire...which is probably cuz one of the cylinders is misfiring or the buildup of gas from trying to start....to the fact that the pipe from the i/c slipped off the throttle body... But anyhow i revved it to 3-4 k and it died shortly after. only lasted about 30 seconds. So i guess im convienced its a loose wire...? but i just rechecked(re-taped together) all the wires by the ecu up to the dash. I am ****ing clueless. Btw... i had it turn over before i did all the testing above.
Oh yeah, i followed the battery wiring guide from heavy throttle and theres one line i see missing. A red stripped blue or blue stripped red wire that is for the coilpacks and is linked to the ignition wire between the two harnesses (brown in color i believe) I know that the damn think worked in my old car so the people who did my swap must've lead the wire somewhere else? But yeah, i cut the wire from the grey plug in the battery tray (beause they just spliced it, they didn't put the wiring in the harness. I cut it and repliced it cutting off the connector again.). I also cut the wires under the dash from the KA ECU, i reconnected all the ones in the heavy throttle guide. About 5-6 of them i believe, i even matched the excess wires that matched in color when it wouldn't start. I am pretty damn sure im not missing anywires? Theres one wire in the back of the redtop that looks like a telephone cord (the fiber in it, its about the size of a ethernet plug) And theres also one by that thingy in the passenger side right by the firewall on the top, but that is cut off on my old one... the plug is just cut doesn't go anywhere...
If anyone can help call me 24/7 (415-823-9472), email me [email protected], AIM SN: lstoopidfastl
If anyone is in the bay and willing to help out.... or lend me some advice i'd be very greatful....
OH that thing about closing the door, it could've been coincidental with the car just starting.... but since the turbo timer turned off and on... i dont' know?
oh...one last thing, when i jiggle the brown/tan harness in the battery area the relays start clicking. I believe they are the relays nearest the battery try possible the ones on the drives side.
