'89 coupe with 144k miles, biege exterior and brown interior, AC, power windows and whatnot, base model.

Goods: I like the color, it's cheap, it's a 240sx :-) Body is straight (save a crunchied side under the passenger door), and no rust. Upholstry isn't terrible, and it's got the beautiful monoform bucket seats. I think I'm the only person who likes those :P Has a new exhaust (plain ole catback, doesn't look special)

Bads: Brown interior, cracked dash, paint is "meh," interior needs some work, window toggles are missing, high mileage, car is generally old. Body panel (sideskirt?) under the passenger door is crushed a bit (funny, my own car has that on the driver side. . .). Lame black racing stripes.

The place selling it has listed for $1750, but it's possible I could get it for significantly cheaper.

So, basically I need to convince myself that it is worth borrowing some money from my sister for :P

The coupe would be nice to have strictly as a track car...

And you could always keep your hatch for the daily life...

Get it...

well borrowing money from family can be a tricky situation. but if you think that would be okay, that go ahead and borrow and buy.

My family isn't tricky about loaning money :P I s'pose some folks have trouble there, we don't (though, the one sister I'd be borrowing from. . . . ). Just assume the "borrowing from family" is a non issue.

I have yet to see the car's engine or drive it, I'll try to do that on Monday. KBB.com gives me a $510 trade in and $1300 private party value on it. Think they'd tell me to go home if I started by saying "I'll give you five hundred bucks cash."?

My dad is great at negotiating cars and stuff, but he'd say "don't get it" so I'd rather not involve him :P

well, if it has been there a while low ball them, say 500, if they refuse give them your number but tell them your in a hurry to buy within a week or two

if they dont call in a week, show up at the place with 500 cash and tell them you want that car, its been there for a while, youlle get it of the lot. try to make it sound like your doing them a favor
