I am going to get a custom exhaust built for my stock Ka24e and was wondering what all dimensions would get me the most horsepower ?

IF all goes well, i will be having my n1 muffler with a 2.5 inch pipe from the cat installed tomorrow..

You said it would be loud....But what is nasty loud??? i Just dont want my car to sound like crap..

I bought a silencer also just incase..

I highly recommand that you don't get a 3" catback exhaust, because you are losing power and its going to be so damn loud that you will get annoy with it. Stay with a 2.5" its still going to be loud as hell, but what ever you do don't get ride of the cat.

Sounds exactly like what I am going to do to my ka24de. I am going to get a 2.5inch pipe from the cat back to a Apex'i N1 or an HKS hiper. Will that set up be loud? I dont want it to be too loud to where I can't stand it but I want a decent sounding exhaust that gives me some low end power. What do you guys recomend?

2.5" is fine...Mandrel bent would be best.

But what eveyone is saying about noise...it will be LOUD and resonate in the car badly around 3000rpm without a resonator (i.e. a small bullet style muffler that would go after the cat but before the bends at the differential).

A 'glasspack' would be the right idea, but MAKE SURE whatever you use has a perforated core, not a finned core. The little fins will poke into the path of the exhaust and kill the flow = Bad for performance.

Look around www.jegs.com for Magnaflow round mufflers - They can be had for $50-100, and will make your exhaust sound nice - No rasp, no resonation.

And for the love of god...Do it right the first time!!! If you have one done and skip the resonator, you will not be happy. Trust me.

also, if u are really poor, check out jcwhitney.com they have marrymount mufflers for like 15 bux. Those are not glasspack types, but the regular ones so i'm guessing pairing it up with a glasspack muffler would make it pretty quiet.

ok are you going to get it mandrel bent? if so

get it from the Cat-back

(cat converter)-pipe-(resonator)-pipe(muffler)

if you skip the resonator like I did they exhuast will be really loud, and will set off alarms when you are just idling.. ( wow thats loud! )

if you are just going to get cheap crush bends.. do yourself a favor and just get it installed for 20 bux and forget about the piping its not going to do anything for you.

be sure that when you install your silencers you install the bolt nice and tight ( it will rattle at 1st this is normal but after a while the rattling will stop )

also if you are doing mandrel bends you can get down there with the guy and get him to make it straight as posslbe w/ the least ammount of bends and you can also ask to have it angled to the side for that gangster JDM look

cheers !

Iam not sure what method the muffler man is going to use tomorrow... I want it to be loud but not window shattering...

So do you think i should just have the pipe brought back from my stock resonator. instead of going from the cat...

Thanks..

i'm at about the same spot...here's what i'm thinking:
(HS Header)-(CAT)-pipe-(Glasspack)-pipe-(muffler)

is that right for a good sound without a lot of excess noise?
i just don't want it too loud
