what? "Big deeeal" you say? i know i know. but for a newbie-stick driver, im kinda happy.
right now im just ghetto double clutching it. i put it from 4th to neutral, then blip the accel and then downshifted to third. is that ok to do? felt kiiinda smooth but i need to work on it.

Good job, keep practicing. 4th to 3rd is fine. You can even go from 4th to 2nd as long you don't mind revving quite high. Also practice braking. Practice holding your revs at a constant RPM without looking at the tachometer. Try to feel your car when you rev match to make the transition smooth. It's all the small things. Keep it up.

yeah I have been driving stick for years and I just started really doing that
its fun, I dont use neutral, rather, just quickly depress the gas pedal to the floor and release with the clutch during sownshifting..sounds cool too

Well, be proud of yourself. Double-clutching is harder than just rev-matching. It's got more steps to it. Now you've just gotta work on the heel-toe (I prefer sidestep as I've got somewhat large feet) and you'll be a race-car driver in no-time :D

thats not double clutching. There's no need to double clutch in a modern car with synchros. Unless your synchro's go out.
That's how to rev-match your downshift though! good work! Now all you have to do is integrate that into a braking situation, and you are heel-toeing. :)

thanks for the positive feedback guys.
i know its not real doubleclutching but like i said "ghetto" double clutching. because im slow right now at doing everything at once, i have to shift to neutral and then rev, and then shift to 3rd. yup, im ghetto and im proud. :)
i'll keep practicing and trying to keep the revs constant like you said drift.
heel to toe is months, maybe years down the road. sounds really hard.

what i do sometimes is just when i'm downshifting to a lower gear is just blimp the throttle while i'm going down, very smooth ;-D. i guess thats rev matching

yes. thats rev matching.
double clutching is.. clutch in; shifter neutral; clutch out; blip throttle; clutch in, shifter in lower gear; clutch out
All done very fast. Don't do this. just rev-match.

know how I revmatch? without using the clutch, I pull it out of old gear, rev to the designated rpm, push into new gear, no clutch ever used.

either you're doing too many steps for rev matching, or you're not double clutching. btw, there's no need for double clutch unless your tranny is crap(synchros dead)
