what is this CUT CABLE in my s14 ???

ok so i have a 95 se with an sr20 swap, and near the shifter there is a cable that is cut and it runs to what looks like the heater/ac fans? well when i pull the cable inside the sleeve it clicks back and forth behind/under the dash.. and idea what this cable does ? ill try and get some pictures but im sure alot of you know. thanks

kinda sounds like its the shift lock cable from when it was auto?
was your car auto?

Auto shiftlock cable. Literally takes 5 seconds to pull out, why would some fool cut it?
