Hey all, Im currently having a problem with my car. I have a s14 sr20 and I recently added 850cc injectors and z32 MAF. When doing the upgrade I also decided to send my engine harness to get repinned for my wipers to work.

At the time that I was installing everything I had sent the harness to the shop for it to get re-pinned. When it was there, the shop the owner offered to sell me a used PFC. The owner said that the harness was not for the particular PFC he had, but it was going to be re-pinned for it to work and turn on my car. So I decided to take his offer and purchase the PFC.

Now, when the car was done and ready to start up. I connected the engine harness and PFC. When turning the key the commander didnt turn on. I figured it was the PFC because it was used to I contacted the owner. He said he had no way to determine if it was defective so he decided to give me credit for it.

I just recently pruchased a new PFC (the same part number as the used one that I had before) from FRsport and I still have the same problem. The commander doenst turn on, the engine wont turn on and I have no fuel.

The PFC that I have is:

Apexi Power FC 414-AN013 ECU Engine Management 93-96 S14 SR20DET

How can I determine what PFC I need? The owner of the shop that I went to couldnt determine it because the numbers on the stock ecu where not matching with anything. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

There are only 2 PFC's for S14 (L-Detro at least), 94-96 and 96-99

I think you should try to find an S14 ECU and see if that works. If not then there's something wrong w. your wiring/harness. If it does work then it's probably the PFC and you got two faulty ones in a row. But you PROBABLY have a wiring issue, that's just my 2cents.

If it's not both of those things, I would start checking fuses & grounds. Do you only not get power to the commander or power to the whole car?

THere is an article about this.... I believe the pfc needs two sources of power from the battery... Try to do a search on this....

I took your advice seeing as how I have a PFC and I don't want to have this problem when I install it.

I checked the pins on the powerfc and there seems to be power going into some pins. I dont remember exactly but there was injector voltage and acc power but no constant power.

When I connect my stock ecu it does get constant voltage and acc voltage but doesnt get the fuel pump to prime.

What pins should I check? you mentioned that the PFC gets power from two sources right? where can I check that?

I am also reading in advance the link you guys gave me.. thanks

I did some research on some previous post and I dont know what this is.. I believe this might be my problem.

"ECCS relay wire, it's a thin red wire with black line and it should be wired up on both sides by the battery area. If it is not wired up then you should wire it up"

What is this exactly? I relocated my battery to the back and I think this might be my issue.

ECCS relay wire, powers part of the ecu... I am not sure where it is on an S14 chassis, but in a s13 chassis, its the blue relays near the passenger side lights. I believe on S14 chassis, when I did the swap its located near the passenger kick panels.... But these should both "click" on when there is power to the ecu.
