So my buddy just got his SR rebuilt by Touge Factory, and we just dropped it in. He bought a used turbo from a member on here, but I don't think that's the problem.

Details:

-Spark plugs are black
-smoking a bit, but not black/blue smoke, so I don't think it's oil.
-when we put the turbo on the manifold, we got a metal gasket to go from turbo-manifold and didn't use sealer on it, should we do that?
-after the car is turned off, if you listen, there's a hissing noise coming from the turbo side of the motor. Am I right in thinking that this isn't going to be on the exhaust side of the motor? I'm thinking there's a boost leak and that's why the car is running rich, but I don't think that running rich would cause the car to idle like it does.

I'll have a video up as soon as it's done uploading.

i think the hissing is just the turbo still spooling after the car is shut off. have you taken it for a test drive? if so details of how its running. how is it idling weird? if there's a boost leak you'll know it for sure if you take it for a test drive. maybe you guys forgot to plug in a line somewhere. check all your lines again. also check your tps. and dont forget to check timing!

I was told by touge to let it idle for 20-30 minutes to break it in, then do another oil change before driving so driving it really doesnt seem like an option.

Hmm..

My buddy had his engine rebuilt by TF as well.. Says it would smoke once in a while and was told by them that its normal.

Did yours smoke?
