Why is there not a 'Greddy-style' intake manifold for the KA24DE yet?

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/6/2/1/6/4/5/webimg/271656521_o.jpg

Someone please make one already, so I can purchase a knockoff of it for 100$ shipped on Ebay in polished/chrome finish.
ISIS, are you reading this? Pretty please? I am sure it would sell well.

I really do not even care if it does anything performance-wise, I just dislike removing/installing/tinkering in the vicinity of the bulky stock KA24DE intake manifold with a passion.

Thank you. :)

id buy it if it came with free stickers cool

but not a bad idea...

How similar is the spacing between the intake ports of the two motors? If its pretty close you could take the isis unit and your stocker and get someone competent in welding aluminum to frankenstein the two together.

I would be careful though, as the plenum and runner volume is optimized for the sr, and I'm not sure how the ka would respond.

Idk if this is what your looking for but is this close? Yes I know its not the $100 price you want though.

^ there is none.

isis needs to get to work on this! I think the xcessive one is kinda ugly..

Simple, not enough demand to make them.

isis doesn't have one cause no reputable company has made one to rip off yet.

Isn't that xcessive one that you linked from phase2 just the upper half of the stock ka24de manifold bolted to a flange welded to a round plenum with the stock throttle body attached or am I missing something? He could have a shop fabricate that for him for 150$.

Because people who try to mod KA's are poor.

And people who have money that mod KA's make their own.

I had an Xcessive on my KA it was nice.

Xcessive KA24DE Intake Plenum (http://www.phase2motortrend.com/xckainpl.html)
Know about that one, but to be honest, the price is not worth it to me.
All of the KA manifolds are pretty costly, and I do not find any of them attractive.
I just a want a simple neat-shaped one-piece manifold.

Because people who try to mod KA's are poor.
Exactly why a cheap simple manifold would sell great.

i thought about getting one of those for the ol' Two Jay.

then i decided to just keep the hood closed.

just as good.

One night, I had a nightmare about removing the intake manifold. My hands were all cut up, with coolant and grime entering the wounds, and Haruguchi was laughing at me.

Compared the SOHC manifold, but it did not fit.

There are numerous tricks to making the KA intake manifold easier to work with and around. One super easy thing that no one ever seems to do (even though I say it constantly) is to remove the two studs on either end that secure the two halves together, and replace with bolts. That way you can slide the plenum off without having to remove the alternator and oil filter. Also, bypassing the coolant to the throttle body means you never have to spill any coolant when removing the lower half.

probably no gains is why no one has made one for cheap, its not cost effective

we should start a thread for basic manifold design...

iirc the basic theory behind intake plenum design is for every intake port to have equal exposure to incoming air from the throttle body-

therefore the throttle body has an imaginary line perpendicular to it, that points towards the slit between piston 2 and 3... moving air distributes evenly when it enters the plenum, and spreads out to give each cylinder its due share.

also un-obstructed line should point from the center of the throttle body, to each cylinder. @[email protected]

Since you started the conversation about making your own now I'm uber interested. I've seen this guy do it on the sohc which I was going to try as soon as I practice welding enough to not screw it up.

Here's the link on his build: Intake Manifold Design For Turbo Setup on SOHC KA-T (http://home.att.net/~MabuhayCarlos/TurboIntake.html)
If you do look at it make sure you skim the whole thing because he changes parts for the throttle bodies like 3 times lol.

I don't know if they even make or if they did that you could still find that nissan motorsports intake manifold and especially trying to mount it to the dohc but hopes and dreams.
So I think anyone could do something similiar on the dohc if you guys give it a go ;). This is a way more advanced race type setup rather than an everyday driver but you get the idea (individual throttle body design with a rather large plenum attached to direct air from the turbo into the engine). And a crazy simple fuel rail on top. I think the blow off valve on top of the intake manifold is the best part (despite hating the hks pos) ;).

EDIT: Ok maybe I jumped the gun a little on this being affordable... lol
Approximately 1200$ for the carb setup and 600$ for the mani for the ka24de not to mention other bits and pieces:
Only place I found them so far (http://www.wolfcreekracing.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=33&Itemid=23)]

So it's more of the holy grail of intake mani design I guess

im pretty sure the original thread poster doesn't care about this rocket science.

As long as it's pretty and shiny and all oblong and shit it will do, fill it with gravel if you want.

Would also settle for a hacked ECU or something that gets rid of the MAF so I can use ITB's with velocity stacks.
As long as it is all bolt-on and requires no tuning whatsoever.

I am in the middle of making ka24de intake manifolds. Pricing is around $350, made of 6061 aluminum. Once it's done I will become a vendor on here.

I am in the middle of making ka24de manifolds. They're almost done, pricing starts at around $350, once I have a finished one I will become a vendor on here. They are going to be RSP style, seems the most logical way to do it.

Ok a couple quick questions about that mani you made. what size is the inlet on that throttle body area you have on the plenum? Like could you make a larger plate to mount my 96 maxima throttle body instead (slightly larger diameter throttle body hole with the mounting bracket stretched out about 1/2 inch on each side)? Does it still have the butterflies and controller valve or did you remove that and weld in the holes left behind? Last question, Is the IACV still on there somewhere? If you answer these questions right I might buy one from you ;)

omgshawn
03-31-2010, 02:30 PM
Right now there are no provisions for the IACV, I do plan on incorporating that into the later design though.

The inlet for the throttle body is 3", so I can do anything from a 65mm to a 100mm+ CNc throttle body, or any other one if I have the bolt pattern.

The manifold I used for the first one is s14, there's no butterflys or controller valve on it, either way they will be removed and filled.

Like I said though I do plan on them being able to retain the IACV and other stock forms of idle control because I'm sure some people would want to keep them, but for this one it's going to be just what's needed.

Andddd, I have a friend at a shop that does flow benching and he said he'll flow bench for me because he's interested in them too.
