My old car was rolled and flipped, there HAD to be frame damage... But the car was the color of that one in the rear. The only "wrecked" picture I have of it is from the passenger side, which is not photographed on that car. Last time I saw it, it was headed to the junkyard and was someone else's problem, and now this pops up and these folks are apparently from TN, the next state over from me... I had a little chuckle as a result.

I was hoping this missile stuff didn't catch on around in the states.. Especially with all that coverage of all that Ebisu Matsuri stuff a while back. Fucking Speedhunters seemed to glorify these missile heaps. Sure maybe it's handy for the pros to practice touching mirrors without caring about fixing their cars, but lots of folks started thinking the worse the car looked the better.

Sucks the fun of watching a nice looking car getting near a wall. If it's already fucked up so who cares. :-/

"Missile" cars are what is wrong with drifting and the community on the whole. No, I am no drifter, I choose not to pursue a particular interest, but I have more respect for those who track their cars and make them look like SOMETHING than I do for those who treat them as throwaways to be crashed and treated like the pieces of shit they happen to look like.
The feeling that this is somehow excusable as an excuse is another problem I have with drifters on the whole.

These cars aren't exactly rare, but the lack of respect I've seen people treat their "piles" saddens me. Go to a 3rd world where you'd be lucky to even have a car, let alone some "POS".

That's the whole point of a missile, to have a driver get better without smashing up their nice car. How are you going to practice backwards entries if you can't do them in your missile broooooo?

Check out the vids of D1 Odaiba Tokyo drift. Koguchi vs Kawabata. There you will see nice cars getting close and rubbing fenders. You see nice cars getting close at every professional drift event around the world. They just don't hit eachother because they're not stupid and you're not supposed to. That's part of the skill. Getting close without hitting.

Missile cars are dumb because they've lost their purpose. It was supposed to be so you could practice getting close to objects and other cars. Now it has become "Well I don't care this car is junk I'll just huck this entry and if I crash oh well." You don't learn anything that way.

Anyone that thinks missile cars are "cool" has the second mindset. These are the people who take their perfectly fine car and huck entries at retarded speeds and when they crash say "oh well, it's cool to have battle damage".

No it's not. It's cool to learn to get closer and closer but NOT crash. That's car control.

I really think the Japanese started it all as a joke, and now they're laughing at us following their footsteps.

I know what a missile is. I know what the point of them is. You don't have to tell me BROOO. You simply said that you never see them doing "backwards entries" and I'm just telling you why you don't. People with missile cars aren't at that pro level yet and are mostly just weekend warriors; amateurs.

I thought we were on the topic of everyday drivers and enthusiasts. Not professionals. Yes, you see D1 cars and FD cars rubbing fenders at every single event, but they are pro. They don't usually own their cars and I'm pretty sure they don't really care if they crash them or not. They'll just have their 20 mechanics rebuild the car in 15 mins.
