You should do that first.
Then locate the leak.
and if your totally lost take a pic and post it here.

Speculations:
1. You over filled the fluid, so when you start the car, the ATF shoots out the breather tube.
2. Rear main seal is leaking. This seal circumscribes your drive shaft and if it is old, it will leak.
3. Your drain or filler nut is loose. Chase the threads with Teflon tape.
4. In order to know if your ATF is at the right level, remove the filler bolt located on the side of the transmission via a 1/2" wrench or drive. If most of the ATF will spill out, then close it you're done. The correct ATF level is just at the level of the filler bolt.
*Most people will fill change or fill the ATF via the Shifter hole, which is the lazy way and you won't know the correct level. You must use the transmissions filler hole and fill it through that hole, once the fluid rises just to the hole, stick your finger in it to feel the fluidl, you pop the nut back in and it's at the approximate level recommended.

Exactly. We aren't there. We can't speculate where it's leaking for you. If it's that bad it will be very clear as soon as you bother to check.

in one of his other posts he asked how to change a starter for an auto.
so now the question is
What color is the fluid that is leaking out?
