Saturday night found me frantically trying to help my Miata friend (Trey) pull his 1.8 engine with a screwed oil pump and re-install the 1.6 that came in it in time for the autox Sunday. We finally called it quits around 2:30am after I managed to completely knock my knuckle off on the flywheel teeth while installing the clutch. So I offered him a position as my co-driver for the day. At first, I kicked myselft and thought it would be like watching my girlfriend get raped...but that slutty bitch just kept asking for more...it was actually quite enjoyable seeing it in action at the hands of a pretty capable driver. Of course, being used to ABS he managed to give me a couple of nice flat spots, but that's of little concern...need to get new tires pretty soon anyway. On his third run, I seriously thought he was gonna beat me in my own car--he was already ahead by 0.4 s after the second run (53.9 vs. 54.3)--he was on his way to a mid 52 s run when he locked 'em up and plowed right through the last gate...I rejoiced . His 4th and last run, he got a bit out of shape and went OC. But my car survived and wanted more, and now it was time for my 3rd and 4th runs. I cut 2 s to get 52.3 and then another .3 to get 52 flat as I powerslid/drifted through the timing lights for the last time:biggrin:...which was enough to take 1st place in Open Tire after pax!
There was actually another S13 there...but he was a newb and got last in Street Tire. And I didn't get a chance to talk to him.
There were also a pair of seriously fast M3s there.....yummy!
And a slightly frustrated WRX driver did a 4 wheel burnout!:o I really hope somebody got a pic of that.
On another and slightly related note, NoProblem Raceway (http://www.noproblemraceway.com/) around Baton Rouge, LA is holding open track days this month on the 10th and 24th. I'll be in D.C. next weekend, but depending on my tire situation and time/money constraints, I'm gonna try to make it to the one on the 24th. (hey matic, tell your Honda buddy to come on out ).
ok...I'll shutup now
