Heyo all

I did put a rebuilt DOHC into my 1990 and i have noticed it seems to be using up alot of oil. This will be the second time within a months time i will be filling it again. surprisingly the oil dash light does not come on saying its low, was wondering if that light was lost due to the swap. Another thing i have noticed is that the first time it got low on oil after the 3000 mark, it started to make a popcorn sound coming from under the valve cover. Any input to these is greatly appreciated to give me a possible direction to go.

Thank you.

The light in the cluster is NOT for oil level, it's oil pressure, and it only trips below 8psi, so no matter how little oil you have if the oil pump is working you'll never see the light. There is nothing that will indicate if the oil level is low besides checking it yourself. The sound you hear is likely the top chain guide rattling.

I suggest you familiarize yourself with the car better since you clearly don't know anything.
