has anyone run sea foam motor treatment through their system (adding to fuel, crankcase, and vac line)? i've heard good things about it like it's some kind of miracle shit, why have i never heard of it before? lol
does is foul plugs/clog filters? it is supposed to be o2 sensor safe. i saw a video of someone doing a wrx and it was smoking like a sumbitch

The stuff helps burn out carbon deposits in your motor. Is it a miracle cure for shitty power and old motors? No. It will clean stuff out but that doesn't mean it fixes low compression or bad seals in motors...

Here's a method of doing it. Hope it helps

It's less harmful to seals than some of the other stuff out there. I wouldn't call it miraculous but it's definitely good. However, just like a good tune up, you aren't making new power, just finding whatever you have lost over time.

It; actually fucks up the motor once in a blue moon. Sometimes, teh motor is "heldtogether' by the gunk and shit built up and seafoaming; to remove the gunk loses compression.
I'm just talking out of my ass htough.

Its a pretty good way to clean gunk out your engine. Most people dont put it in their oil though it thins it out i hear. I usually just add through a vacuum line, smokes profusely and occasionally black gunky shit flies out of your exhaust lol.

I've done it before on a few engines. Never had any negative results and seems to clean things out a little. I would not do it often though.

o2 sensor safe not so much
plug your o2 sensor while driving with it or be ready to replace it
i think s14db posted pictures of a seafoamed sensor before shit was fugged
also marvel mystery oil is a much better product to freshen the motor up imo

I used it in my car.. its mainly just really fun to see the smoke puff out. if your cars really dirty up in that head youll see the smoke like a nasty brown color and then when its not so dirty it just comes out white.

i had black stuff come out the exhaust, so im gonna assume it was cleaning something. No negative side effects and i got to look like an ass driving a car down the road that was smoking like hell. Twas fun

seafoam did wonders for my car . i poured it through the intake then took it for a test rip afterwards , it accelerated soo much smoother i support seafoam 100% .however i only would use it to clean your intake system.
but NEVER put it in your crankcase. just like people said above it will take away some of the gunk thats actually holding seals in your crank case.
putting it in your gas tank is also questionable. I mean .. you are running premium gas all the time, and primo gas dosent leave behind as much deposits as regular gas.

So my question to you guys who've done this before, whats the bst way to seafoam my redtop?

I've heard just as many horror stories about seafoam as I have success stories. I would NEVER reccomend that anyone uses seafoam.
The best way to clean out the crankcase is to simply run diesel oil for a couple oil changes. Diesel oil has a LOT of cleaning additives in it. It works great and there is no chance of damaging anything.
To clean the intake mani I just use throttlebody cleaner. After you clean the throttlebody itself what you do is disconnect a breather hose upstream of the throttlebody. You then start the engine and spray the throttlebody cleaner into the intake, for no more then 10 seconds at a time, and rev the engine. This gets the throttlebody, intake, and helps loosen up the crap on the valves and pistons.
Now the final step in a squeaky clean engine you'll have to pay a mechanic to do. They have injector flush machines that run the engine on a special cleaner, rather then gas. These flushes not only clean out the injectors, but also the valves and tops of pistons as well.

If you're going to use Seafoam, such as through a vacuum hose, I recommend using something to regulate the amount it sucks in. The problem lies when people let the engine suck too much product causing the engine to flood.
This is the proper inexpensive way to do it.

I never heard of Mystery Oil until reading this thread. Is this a solution I can pour into my gas tank and during an oil change?

i think i've heard (read) that too.. when trying to diagnose my smog problems a while back.
i was considering seafoam, but i was worried i would clean out all the "bad" things that were actually helping hold compression on my old ass beat to hell high mileage motor.

yeah that was the thread i saw that said put 1/3 of the bottle in the fuel tank, 1/3 in the crankcase, and 1/3 in the vac line
it does mention that you will have to change the oil though

You sir are incorrect. Only difference between premium gas and regular is the octane rating. Dont belive what you have heard about less deposits its marketing.

I use seafoam right before every oil change. 2 cans One in the gas tank, half in the crankcase, and the other half in the vac system.
I've been using sea foam for a few years now, pops showed it to me while working on the S30 we have, really good stuff.

I dont know why you guys like bending rods.
A bottle of Redline S-1 will do the exact same thing, safely and more effectively because it contains around 30-45% PEA.
Seafoam doesnt last long enough to clean, its more of a shock treatment. Water or ATF have been proven more effective. Water will kill your O2 in 2 seconds however.

i used it in the intake system and my compression went from 145
to around 180.

the thing is that the firt time i used it looked blue

seafoam is great ive done it about four times in my car right before an oil change i buy a can which is about 9 bucks(make sure it is automotive) dosent really matter though. get three clear cups. Put a third in the gas tank(fill up gas tank after this), a third in the oil crank case, and then the tricky party is a intake hose, i use my brake booster line which is the big one all the way to the left in the back of the motor. You have to have someone with you in order to do this because if you let go of the suction the motor will shut off, after that let it sit for about a couple of minutes before you try to start it, when you do it will have a little trouble but then when it cranks up be prepared to smoke everyone out drive around from anywhere to 25-75 miles then change your oil... hope that helps

I used it in my ka24e powered 90 240sx when I first got it. When I did emissions even with the cat that had 200K+ miles on it - It came out better then a new engine. I lost the slip but seriously I've never seen emissions numbers that low. I ran it through the vacuum line going to my brake booster like a couple of days before I got my inspection and emissions done.

so....verdict....its a solvent that breaks down oil. Putting it anywhere will break down buildup in the injectors, crankcase, and other areas. But just remember...older cars, some of that sludge is holding your parts together...keeping the leaks from happening...
use at your own risk! lol
I'm gonna go home and smoke out my block. Good thing this is the new"er" motor, and not the one that died at 260k.

i ran some through the gas tank and the brake booster vac line a few days ago. slightly better throttle response i guess? after the fuel got low i changed the fuel filter too so who knows. i also found out the stuff is $7.77 at walmart after i paid $9.99 at autozone

Seafoaming is pointless unless you plan on doing every month.
your only removing tiny bits of carbon that you can get rid of from a jovial freeway drive. if you do plan of seafoaming every month then sure it will make a difference. but thats a huge hassle IMO....... ie: oil change every month? no thanks
