Ultimately:
Is it worth molesting perfectly stock metal, for the sake of baller wheels.

Best mod ive done, on both my cars, wider track more room for wheels and tire and most importantly the look lol. Just make sure its done well, rewelded and not cut too high without reinforcement.
Also make sure there baller or at least extra "funktional" wheels

I dig overfenders when you need them to accomodate 18x11+'s.
If you have mint rear fenders, keep it OEM pulled.
BTW, how's the best S13's thread, Kalypso? :)

if they are mint, keep em. 99.9% of wheels will come and go, but once u cut up fresh metal u are never going to have that rear 1/4 panel work.... realistically.
i cannot forsee myself going widebody until the 1/4 panels get fubar'd. with wider wheels/wide tires, u need other "things" too. on the power i'm making (or lack there of) i doubt i'd be able to spin 11s or 12s with reasonable rubber, no matter how ill they would look =(
(i'm on 10.5 stock metal now)

I wanted overfenders for quite a while, but lack of funds meant I couldn't go ahead (painting would of killed me). In the long run, I'm happy I stuck with flared stock metal. Its so hard to get fiberglass looking perfect.

With other cars (like my FD) there's a good reason to avoid overfenders - the stock body already 'looks' aggressive/wide... these cars look better with stock bodies lightly rolled and pulled.
With my S13 and later S14, the wide fenders make the car. I ran 18x10 +0 / 18x12 +0 and made the body to fit with modded Dmax rears and modded AIT fronts, and it came out aggressive as fuck. There's certainly something to be said for a clean stock body car, but I was extremely pleased with how wild and unique mine was (neither of which can be had with stock fenders).
If I had a pristine S-chassis and wanted to keep my wheels/tires around 9.5", I'd certainly do what Wayne did and run a little roll and pull for the super clean look - his car looks fantastic. Since most S-chassis cars are beat, people have no problem spending ~$200 on some nice clean fenders. My problem is with people that run overfenders, then spacers to get their craptastic 18x8 et35 wheels to meet the fenders - like Koguchi did. That shit is homo and rice IMO.

on my second hatch i figured why not im down for some fat ass rims in the back so i cut the rear fenders and put on some over fenders. At first it seemed pretty sick that you can fit extremely huge rims but when it was all said and done i was very unhappy with it. It just makes the car look like a POS cause you can see the shinny fiberglass fenders. I dont think its worth it unless the car is strictly track, if so then beat it to shit who cares.
just do a clean roll and pull then call it a day.

There's a thing called paint. It makes those shiny fiberglass fenders look just like the rest of the car.
My attempt to save this thread - this is with three shades of flat black, unfinished bodywork (rush to get to trackday), but shows what purposeful widebody looks like. Car was in an accident shortly thereafter, never finished it.

overfenders are pointless
buy wheels with correct offsets and you wouldn't have any problems in the first place
s13 can fit a 10 inch wide rim on stock body with a little bit of work
s14 can fit ridiculous sizes

personally, I like the look of widebody. So that's why I'll do it. I don't give a shit about "ruining" good stock panels on my 240. If something happens I'll just pick up another shell and do it all over again.
I should clarify that I mean if something happens to the car itself, not fucking it up putting fenders on. (for the less intelligent)

You can pull stock fenders about 15mm without it looking much different at all, I have done it. Heat and patience. Was kinda chapped when I put on my 20mm front overs and the wheels fit about the same.
I could give a crap less about my 20yr old car--it was 50 bucks to begin with so why not cut the crap out of it, plus the way i put it to use its obvious its not gonna stay pristine for very long.
If i had a pristine s14 kouki I would probably not hack it all up--unless of course i got it for an initial cost of 100 bucks or less. turns out i have a shitty S13

it's a pita and since going to fiberglass front fenders i still can only get my bumper to line up like 98% perfect BUT imo a full widebody on hatchs make them time less. it completley rejuvinates the car...so with that being said no, i dont regret them at all!

Overfenders are practical.
I have em on my s13 because I bought it with damage on the rear 1/4s. It was an easy fix, and looks great.
My s14 on the other hand, Had nice fitment on stock body, until my buddy backed into my rear 1/4 panel now. Now, Ill probably end up doing overfenders in the back because to me, It makes more sense to buy new rear fenders for $300 than spend $1000 at a body shop to fix the dents. Of course I would need to get new wheels to fit, which is the dilemma.
It comes down to look in the end tho.
Do you want the look of widebody and widened fenders?
Then get over fenders
If you like stock look?
Keep your stock fenders.
I like em both depending on chassis.

ok to be fair though, i can find a bunch of shitty stock bodied 240's and compare them to dope wide body ones and obviously its a no brainer which looks better. but what it comes down to is personal preference...i prefer the wide body look and you might not. but i really see ABSOLUTLEY no down sides to going widebody. all in all it increases the looks of the car and seperates it from the run of the mil stock bodied 240's you see everywhere.

ok so do people dislike the widebody FG because its not as durable as the stock metal. i personally like it if they do it nicely no lame shortcuts.
ive never ran any kits but lots of pics always show the front bumper cracked and ziptied. ive never seen a Rear cracked overfender. how would you go about replacing it anyway?

Cracked rears happen when you drift into things, like other cars. Or when a rear tire gets too hot and the tread separates and eats your sideskirt, rear bumper, and overfender.
You drill out the rivets and rivet a new one on.

well I think either can look good, just like any car can look good if you do it write, depending on your taste. I think Ill end up going with overs just because I love the way the dmax rears look on 14s, and I think with a major rolln pull it makes the little buldge right above the rear wheel look like it does not belong. That is just my opinion, but then again I like stock body 14s a lot, about as much as I like moded body work on 14s. I want to see pics of both rolled and pulled and overs, but the best examples, like the car has to have paint. And I used to hate molded fenders, but I think some of the examples shown here, are growin on me.

It seems there are two styles here. You like body kits and over fenders, or you dont. Two very diff tastes here. I prefer the more stock look with baller wheels.

personally im a fan of stock rolled fenders gives that clean look but still aggressive, but sometimes i think my car looks skinny in some picstures haha, ive been contemplating getting front and rear overs but i think im going to just stay with stock metal cause i don't want to have to deal with front fenders cracking while drifting and having to repair them, also i dont want to cut up my rear quarter panels right now, maybe later down the road i dunno well see.

the reason why the bridge metal is small sectionals is so it makes the gap stronger from the metal I had to remove to pull the fender.
then body smooth that bitch with filler. I also put weather sealant over the welding once everything was cleaned up, then I put undercoating on both sides as well so it's rust free and no water in my car.

spend all that cash on nice wheels, nice paint, all the doo-dads... and then rivet on over fenders?...if you drift your car, cool, i understand. quick fix. but if you dont... it just looks like homo.
And how might one install overs instead? Props for keeping the rivets un-painted... Painted always looks terrible...
I vote rolled/pulled b/c I know my S14 can take big tires. Either way, the only reason to regret doing either is after one does a half ass job... I've seen terrible pulls and terrible overs..and the opposite

I see everyone has a opinion on "look" but when it comes to the point your wheels are to wide with too much offset to ever work without overs is where they come into play. Spacing out wheels just for the "widebody" look is kinda uncalled for, but to each there own. Whatever you do. if you do a great job itll look good either way you go to me.

there fixed that for you... If you're going to pull the stock metal and shove wider wheels down there and not make any support for the fender, it will buckle as soon as the wheel hits your fender lip. Mine wont buckle and you would need a sledge and fair ground strength to bend it the opposite way now.

Fuck your oem aero, stock metal preaching. That shit aint for everybody. You ever drive behind a car with wheels poking out of giant fucking fenders?

i'm not preaching anything, its just that most people are just getting into s chassis immediately think they need huge wheels or extremely low offsets to be cool and resort to over fenders or piss poor fender pulls
both are cool in their own respects i like both but i don't like the look of rivets and i don't like it when the fiberglass cracks from the wheels hitting it
if i were to do overfenders i would mold them

I do see eye to eye with you on the idiots obliterating their shitboxes immedieately with horrible zilvia style though. However, if I see one more car with Battle/CST, kouki aero sagging off their faded ass gold/maroon/etc. car with jimmy up, bh world, PG, stickers on it, pretending they have the '01 stock metal style downpat, im gonna claw my fucking eyes out. In my case it was preety much the only option. When you have a giant dent on the quarter pannel just best to toss on some oversfenders its a quick fix and much better looking than a smashed up quarter pannel , i dont regret it but if i would of gotten it with dent free metal fenders of course i would of stuck with that.

coolest wheels i've ever seen, but they didn't even fit under the massive over fenders on this car, the stretch was godamned ridiculous. The owner GABES14 said the car handled like dog balls... and it has since been totaled since I've taken these pics in december.
Lol, I dont remember saying the car handled badly..I do remember saying that that day was the day I got the car out of the shop and it was rubbing like crazy everywhere and I didnt want to tear anything up.
I actually ended up tracking it one day with adam, from drift social.
by the way, wheels are almost done repairing, I have the fronts at my house already and the rears are getting retouched up.

Origin type 2 and chargespeed both cover the entire quarter, so rule those out. It's a Chicago car, so i'm still assuming Origin. Type 1, maybe?
To answer the question of the thread: I can't "regret" getting overs, coz my car got hit by a truck, and it was the easiest fix. I do wish I could run skinnier wheels sometimes, though; there are SO many cool 9" wheels. Also, I don't prioritize car stuff enough anymore to even think about getting any more wheels that actually fit the 50mm overs; so that's kinda lame.
My stupid thing, Origin Type 2 50mm rears.

That's my old hatch.
Msport vented hood
Msport 30mm wide flare front fenders
Msport 50mm wide flare rear fenders
Msport Front bumper
All legit Msport parts. The Rear bumper and sides are just some cheap knock-offs though. I think the rear was a B-magic bumper and the sides are bn knock-off. cant remember...

I don't regret installing these Chargespeed front and rears. The ride height is in its highest position during shifting to a new garage.

I had a vertex ridge kit. Took the fronts and rear and added about 25MM more width on each fender. I think the rears ended up being like 60mm... Cant remember what we measured...
I also molded the rears and never saw a single crack! hahaha

I actually completely removed my rear quarters before I molded my over fenders, only left a 2-3" lip for the new overs to sit on. I also sealed everything up and poured a few pounds of floatation foam for extra support and noise reduction.

So over years. I ended up with Metal up front and FRP in the back. Metals up front handle a beating really well in terms of wheel/tire/fitment abuse(they dont crack)... For the rear, its just too damn expensive to repair metal quarter panels.
In a perfect world, metal all around.

I think it was just a gunmetal grey from some 2003ish Nissan. Let me see if I can find the paint code.
oh ho, youre gonna regret that
stock body looks better than overs most of the time
just dont pull stock metal because it looks terrible

Those rivets look HORRIBLE. I can't get into stock metal front and rear overs. Just seems backwards to me.
