I just finished swapping out an old KA24DE with a fresh KA24DE motor with 70k on it. The swap went very smooth, the car fired right up. The only problem I am having is that the car is throwing 14 ECU codes. The codes are idle malfunctions, EVAP, Emissions, and O2 sensor codes. I tried to clear the codes with my OBDII scan tool and I still get 4 codes that are pending. The codes are Idle malfunction, emissions, & Evap codes. I have check over all vacuum lines and wiring and nothing is out of place. Does anyone know what this might be? The motor came out of a 1996 240SX Se that was automatic. Could it be that the ECU is not compatible with the older motor? All the electrical plugs look the same and have the same wires. Does anyone know what this could be? The car runs fine. Any ideas?
Thanks!

The chassis that the motor went into is a new 1997 240SX SE Kouki.

do you still have the solenoids on the back of the head/intake with all the metal and little vacuum lines?

do you have a map sensor by the passenger strut tower and a green plug'd solenoid on the top/middle of the intake manifold?

and last but not least is there a black plastic flying saucer looking doohicky on top right after the throttle body?

i'm trying to keep it simple so you don't lose me in all the technical component names.

i'd hook it up to a smoke machine and see and if you have any evap or intake system leaks.

smoke machine pwns any carb cleaner spray test.

you could also do a fuel injection service on it to clean the iacv. while you're out there working on the car you could also try swaping or just test your evap purge solenoid. it just needs power and a ground and it should click and allow/block air flow through the nipples.

those are the first couple things i'd check. this is the same ecu you had before? and before you changed the motor did it have any of these codes?

best of luck,

Dave

This is the original ECU that was in the car. The car previously had a Check Engine Light on but I didn't know what codes it was throwing since I didn't have a scan tool but I believe the knock sensor was bad.

Thanks!
