I am making dual projector headlights on my hatch.
I am using a lo beam projector and hi beam projector 9005 bulbs. I have an hid ballast kit for the lo beam but will retain halogen hi beam.
The original headlight lamp has a three prong (sp? name?) socket.
The lo beam and hi beam have a two prong (lol name of that thing) socket... as does the hid kit connector...
I want to retain the lo/high beam stanard knob in car. So when I turn light on lo beams come. When I switch knob high beams come on, and if i flick the switch hi beams flash. I want to basically retain that stock functionality.
I am not sure what the three sprokects/prong whatever on the socket are... I am ASSUMING one is for the lo beam, one is for the high beam and one is ground???
I would have to chop stuff I am assuming... give me a helping hand.
ok from what im understanding you have two projectors.... one for low and one fore high...
dont touch any wiring after ballasts...thats just asking for danger...
as for before i never messed with HID never thought i needed em but my guess works off a power and ground. the OEM wires have two powers and one ground.(someone double check) if this is the case splice both of the hids grounds together this wont harm wiring because only one will be on at a time correct? if not a upgrade in fuse AND! wiring or it will burn up wires. then find which wire is hot when on low beam and high beam splice to corresponding ballast's power wire and should work.

Yes I am using two projectors one for lo beam and one for hi beam.
I figured as much that one wire is ground, one wire is lo and one wire is hi. I want to know which is which and what to do in order to properly rewire so its plug and play.
the lo beam will have an hid ballast and well it comes with a two pin prong on the other end of the assembly which would be plug and play in oem application has it been just single lo beam oem...
The hi beam I will leave halogen obviously.
Battery is out for the winter so no safety issues in that respect but I don't want to create a fire hazzard by having a poor ground by wiring both on the same line or?... i dont know.. so I need some help on how to go about doing this :)
ok since i dont have FSM. you have a volt meter? just test outta the connector. unplug from headlights. hook up battery. turn on headlights on lo check for 12V and then switch to high check for 12V and check for continuity to ground. and label the wires. should be same layout of both sides...
as for grounds as long as ONE light is only on at a time then theres no problem. if you plan on running both lights a "upgrade" in wiring is required to avoid future problems.... electrical diag sucks!
as far as the HID itself dont touch wiring. the only thing if you had to would be wiring the connector to original oem wiring. and for halogen it's as easy as extending wires (use same gauge wire to handle current of the headlight)...
i'll continue looking for headlight connector wiring... i'll check later on when i get to my car if i have time for you...

Yeah about HID i figured as much as teh output end is just a 'stock oem' looking two prong connector, whatever in between (ballast/inverter/fuse/etc...) is part of the package as is and goes to the other end of the bulb itself.
So pretty much what I figured (well common sense I guess?) is that out of the three, one is ground and the remaining two are either lo or hi.
I am just concerned with splicing stuff...
So in a nutshell.. I'll have to get an OEM style 2 prong plug.. splice into the stock 3 prong figure it which is lo and hi.... make two plugs with 2 prong style....
For HID just run in line as is. No worries..
However if I wana use both together at same time the smart move would be to make a new ground seperately.
That makes sense?
to the best of my knowledge yes. either use a meter or twist wires and test then solder

I have this setup now.
To do it properly you need a relay! I use a solid state, with time delay.
The relay is used to keep power to your HID ballast when you flick, hit or turn on the high beams, using the oem h4 wiring and the oem switch.
Our H4 system is positive switching, so you loose power to the hid ballast when you hit the high beams.
You could wire this a different way, but the time delay is a hot modern update to a decade plus old car!
