i have s14 folding mirrors installed and was wondering if they are suppose to fold evenly on both sides. On my set it seems that the left side folds alittle less than the right side. is that right or are mine messed up?

thanks in advanced

yes and no, on Japanese cars it folds evenly. If you reuse the US housing/triangle then they will fold unevenly. I just swapped the guts in mine and they fold unevenly.

i swapped the guts too and is there a way to fix the uneven folding?

So far, everyone's correct.

Reusing the USDM mirror base (so that the 'open' angles will be appropriate for use) results in slightly uneven folded positions.

If you were to use the JDM mirror base (as in, just swapping the entire original assembly on the car), you wouldn't be able to use your mirrors, as they would be held at angles appropriate for a RHD driver. For an illustration, sit in your car in the passenger seat and then attempt to adjust the mirrors so that you can see as you would need to if you were driving. It won't work.

Sadly, this is a compromise we must make to get this feature.

On that note, I wonder if any LHD EDM cars had folding mirrors...

on my RHD s14, my right side mirror folds in more than the left side by just a little bit. i was told this is due to people driving on the left side of the road. as least last time i checked it looked like it did...hmm.

can you just swap our mirrors onto the jdm assemblies?

If your looking to have FUCTIONALITY from the mirrors then yes you would have due to the above statement about angles. If your going for just looks then theoretically you would be able to bolt up the jdm housings and wire them up.
