that thing is sweet... it has a back end that has gt1 design elements and a front end that looks somewhat like a 718 rsk.. in-between those two ends they have a power plant that'll shit on a prius to 60mph and deliver double the mpg. Because its a Porsche you can be sure that the brakes work too

Bah. Ditch the hybrid gear and the V8, shrink it by 50%, put a turbo 4 under the back hatch, price it at around $30,000, and call it a day. There’s your entry level Porsche.


a 3000lb max car (similar to an elise but slightly bigger) of that design would be incredible... make the stupid thing and sell it for 35,000 max

they'd want to limit the production numbers as to not saturate the market and keep demand high, it'll definitely expand porsches market without fully swamping their other sportscars...

Porsche unveils 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid concept [Live image update]

Porsche will use the Geneva Motor Show this week to showcase its 918 Spyder concept car. The plug-in hybrid combines a V8 power unit delivering more than 500 hp and three electric motors with a combined electric output 160 kW (218 hp), and overall output of 718 hp. Fuel efficiency is said to be 78.4 U.S. mpg.

The car is likely to see production eventually, though it’s not clear how close to the concept is to a finished product. There’s speculation the vehicle is intended as a successor to the Carrera GT supercar, but until we know about this beast, it’s hard to make that call.

The sprint to 62 mph is said to take just 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 198 mph is sure to be ample for Autobahn cruising. Porsche says the car will lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in under 7:30 — besting the Carrera GT.

its a shame the car doesnt have half the weight and half the power... that'd make for quite a terrifyingly awesome little car

Side exit is hawt, but the front grilles remind me of the 360 Modena. Almost too close for comfort. That being said, the car is pure sexual. I'm digging it all. I would be digging the car more if it were powered by a proper petrol motor.

fun fact, the ugly sedan you mentioned is also going to be offered in a two door, because porsche developed an all new chassis for it, and want to get as much out of it as they can.

I prefer the Aston. The Quattroporte has some awkward areas that hold it back from being truly great. The design language translates better to the Gran Turismo.

I love Tesla's. I'd prefer a hardtop coupe though.
