i dont eat burgers but i wish they had some chicken & fries in the morning. some mcdonalds offer chicken biscuits in the morning, but its regional (aka the south.) fries are much better than that other potato product. however, props to mcdonalds for having 'southern style sweet tea' everywhere, instead of just in the south :)

Well as I have worked for Chick-Fil-A for over 4 years now maybe I can give a little insight.

The main reason we do not serve breakfast after 10:30 is because making breakfast is a really big pain in the ass. Everything about breakfast is harder to make and takes longer. So once the majority of people stop wanting breakfast there is no reason for us to keep it. We would have to make breakfast to order after 10:30 and then it would take at least 10 minutes. By that point the customer would probably be angry about waiting. So there is no point. Same goes for McDonalds I'm guessing. It's a no win situation for us.

It's pretty much the same deal for why we don't serve lunch during breakfast times. We aren't set up to make it at that point. It's not like we can quickly switch in between the two. So you'd end up waiting at least ten minutes again.

So yea just saying, there are valid reasons why they don't do it. The reason Jack in the Box can do is because you know going in that they don't make anything till you order it, while at Chick-fil-a or McDonalds you pretty much expect your food as soon as you order it.

i tend to go for Checkers or Mc Donalds. and with that said, Checkers opens at 10am and the meat would only be in the warmer for 15-30 min (the allowed time for the warmers at Checkers). depending on the location, the fryer oil should be reasonably filtered as well, AND, if you catch them on a tuesday or wednesday, thats when most change out their fryer grease. i ask, why more places dont serve breakfast longer or all day like Jack in the Box. i have/could and would eat breakfast for lunch or dinner far more than i would eat a burger before 11am.

McDonalds uses the same grills for thier meat.

So after breakfast, the sausage and egg gets steam cleaned off the stove tops.

The bun toaster and racks get changed over to buns, not muffins.

(I also believe that several years ago they stopped toasting the buns and muffins, thats why they dont crunch the same. It is one persons job to toast all day, literally, and it takes alot of room.)

All of the staging and prep stuff needs to be changed over from Eggs, and eggbeaters and stuff to ketsup and pickles and yada yada.

The wrap needs to be changed over as well for burgers and such.

The reach on cooler gets changed over too I believe.

the meats in the freezer in the cooking area get changed over and breakfast taken to the back.

McDonalds only keeps meat and eggs staged for about 10 minutes i think.
So they also take alot of the guess work out of what they need and what amounts by not having breakfast as well.

Breakfast uses different things too, like pancake batter dispensors and the round egg things, and they take room.

McDonalds would have to have twice the space in the back to do both.

McDonalds puts out way to much food and way to quickly to waste time with a couple people an hour wanting some breakfast shit.
They leave that to other places that are trying to find angles to compete.
