I did a search on this but mostly came up with the differences between the s14 and s13 ka. I blew my ka in my s13 and i was going to buy a s14 ka with low mileage. and i was wondering if anyone has swapped out the engines. what kind of problems there are and if i can use the s14 tranny.

no, it's not a direct swap. but, yes, you can make it work. All you need to do is swap the intake and exhaust manifolds between the two engines, as the heater hose locations are different. You'll also need to swap distributors, as the S14 has an internal coil.
As for the tranny, any 240sx tranny should work.

how about the obd sensors?
IIRC, 91-94 ka24des are obd 1 while the 95 - up ka24des are obd 2

well, i'm about to put a 96 motor into my wife's 89.. i htink i'll have it run as a OBDI, though, and use DOHC S13 stuffs like ecu, harness, maf, distributor, etc.

thats why you swap the manifolds. all the sensors that need to change are located there. swaping both manifolds eliminates the need to worry about that crap. literally just swap the two block and heads in and out. leave the tranny harness manifolds the same. less than a days work. we did it last summer. the 95 from my car went into my brothers 91. and a 96 SR went into mine :)
