i searched, but then again im at work, so maybe i didnt search hard enough :mepoke:
before buying my car, it sat for like almost ten years under a tree...
sooo, the gas in the tank turned into some sort of gooey honey type shit :dead::barf:
my question is....
how do i clean my tank without taking it out?
its an s14, thus i dont really want to remove the diff and all..
friend of mine says, " buy 1 gallon of purple power, dump it in the gas tank, leave it for a couple of hours, then vacuum it out":whip:
any comments on that? or suggestions?

Really the best way to clean out your tank IS to take it out and pour dilluted muriatic acid/pea gravel mix into it. It got mine sparkly clean

i personally would also(after cleaning tank) would disconnect the gas feed line (the one that connects to ur filter in engine bay on the bottom) and once u dump the chemicals into the tank use the pump to flush out what eve is in the metal hard line as well...while ur at it after wards chage the rubber lines...
my thoughts are...if it sludge up in ur tank, there might be some in the feed line... as far as the return line... im guessing once u actually put a full tank of gas it might dilute anything left...im unsure...
atleast by cleaning out the feed line u dont have to worry about about priming the motor with honey...lol

S14 has a plastic tank. Not a fan of caustic chemicals and plastic.

yeah, not a fan of muriatic acid on a plastic can.
well, as an update, i bought a 1 gallon of purple power.
gone vacuum the old gas out, pour the purple power, then let it set for a couple of hrs, then vacuum that out. then put some gas, and start her up and see what happens.
right not, it already has new gas, but the gooey stuff clogs the fuel pump, thus not making it work, but if i take it out, shake it and clean it, it works again.
soo ill keep you guys posted as to what happens.
hope it doesnt blow up lol

I wouldn't doubt the Fuel pump is gone after 10yrs. At least the sock should be replaced.
I did some searching and people do seem to use purple power for this purpose in plastic tanks. Just make sure you get it all out.
