Hey everyone, I know this isn't a major custom install like some of your custom turbo setups, but I decided I might as well post this to show everyone.

I installed 3/4" tweeters, connecting them to the larger door speakers in my 95. Looks like a factory install.

And it sounds awesome.

I was proud of the end result, here's a pic

or if that doesn't work, i attached a pic

To be exact they're 3/4" Polk EX series II model # EX2500

err, thanks for the comp.

Pretty easy to do, took maybe an hour.

I stole them from my MR2. hahah

Thats pretty sweet. the idoit :hammer: that i bought my car off of wasn't so worried about looking nice i guess because he put 2 inch tweeters in my kick panels:mad: now i have a nice huge hole in my panels!!!! ugh! i have a question for you Do the tweeters give it too much high? i put some inifinty kappas in mine and the tweeters hurt my ears so i got rid of them and put just 2 JL's up front and a 15 Rockford in the rear all powered by an 1000 watt amp and it's kicks

Nice install...

but, general car audio tech states that tweeters should be within 8-10 inches at the farthest otherwise you get problems with the sound...

Still a nice install ^_^ (in my S14 I put them in the door AC ducts so I get lots of sound travel and perfect focus for the tweeters, and you cant see them ^_^;)

in the ac ducts? Do you have pictures? that sounds like a good idea

Yea I thought about doing the AC duct thing but decided against it... it took that sail-panel install a step further with a little fiberglass and bondo to make it look a bit smoother... I don't have anything as far as write up... they are JL XR 1" tweeters.

As far as having your tweeters 8~10 inches away? Total opinion, basically you're trading phasing for soundstage (some may think of it as trading sound quality for sound stage) I have my tweeters time-aligned with a Dolby Digital processor so this problem is not an issue. And the sound staging sounds -SO- much better than having the tweeter and mid mounted down low in the panel.

Anyway without time alignment I wouldn't even consider mounting my tweeter down low in my panel, I heard a lot of systems and I think soundstage is incredibly important to the overall enjoyment of car audio.

yea that sucks not being able to use that pocket. I'd rather use that pocket to put an airfreshener in than tweeters.

btw, is the tip of your temperature needle red? And is the H red and the "x1000 rpm" thingy red too? im guessing thats canadian?

Dude I didn't know you were running that kind of serious tech =p.

Sorry to be such an ***, and assuming that you were JUST doing speakers &amp for the front stage like me ^_^;

ps
IF somebody can find me a cradle for a casio exilim S2 I'll post pics of anything you want... well except maybe of my g/f nekkid...

well originally when i put in that deck I wasnt able to remove the old one.. When I finally got the old one out a year later, I put my deck back on top, and put in the cubby hole, although I was so used to not having it that It doesnt really bug me.
(the screws were stripped on the old deck so I couldnt remove it)

the red you see on the instrument cluster is not a canadian option, I was bored one day and after taking my buddys new passat for a rip and falling in love with the red needles on blue gauges, I decided to make my own. The red is a sharpie permanent marker and there are blue bulbs behind. Check the attachment for a better look.

By the way the "nissan" you see on the dash is a hood ornament from a sentra..

in case you were wondering

I felt like w/out the tweeters I didn't have enough high, but with them sounds a hellabetter. Sorry bout the novice 240 surgeon who dissected your panels.

***Tweeters in the AC duct... nice, is A/C still operational?

heh I wish. Its the Odometer reading plus 100,000 kms. the cluster died before I got the car and was changed with a factory one, brand new, 50 000 kms ago

I have an S14 and the door ac ducts are ALMOST non-functional to begin with, so I removed the bottom of the duct to fit the tweeter and am too lazy to proper cut a slit in the bottom of the duct to replace it.

Keep in mind I almost removed my ac system completely (until california hit a triple digit day).

It looks really nice, because its invisible. =D

Maeda... isn't that true... you really can't feel any air come out of those. I always shut them because they just take air and waste it, but if they're closed then the two middle ones "blow harder" and we all know how good that can be! :D

I'd recommend what you did to almost anyone... I think putting them in the AC vents is a super good idea. Did you have to drill a small hole for the tweeter speaker wire or was there a gap somewhere between the panel and the door metal? (That was another reason I didn't do the AC vent thing, I didn't wanna cut) I figured by modifying those sail panels I could replace them for super cheap... whereas we all know how much door panels cost!

Duderiffic,
heh, i thought it was just my S14, where the door vents didn't work that well. I keep them shut as well, to get the maximum amt of air through center ones. Everyone has probably figured this one out. But it's good to know i don't have a problem with AC piping to the doors...

hmm maybe 2 more tweeters in Door vents...nah,
that'd be to many highs, heh

Tweeters tend to work best when mounted at head-level, I dont like the way they sound when mounted anywhere lower than that. I know DSP has changed the sound industry, there are SO many more configurations you can do nowadays.. but, I beleive in simplicity. A good amp, cross-over, and speakers is the most important thing.. I leave DSP for home-theater setups. If you are going to be listening to music, a basic separate component system is quite enough. Besides, once you set your cross-over.. you rarely need to adjust anything. Occasionally, I just bass.. but that just depends on whether I am listening to bass-heavy music or music that NEEDS more bass.. but the rest of the frequencies dont need to be adjusted. Having output level adjustments is useful, especially when setting your speakers up.. so its important you can adjust gain on each amp.

I had 13 speakers in my S13 at one point: 1 12" Infinity sealed sub, 2 6.5" woofers in the doors, 4 4x6" mid-woofers, 2" Infinity EMIT tweeters mounted in the front of the car, 2 1" Infinity round tweeters mounted in the back B pillars, and 2 small mid-ranges mounted in the center in the console (these werent too useful). I ended up removing the center channel and went with 11 speakers in the long run.

In my S13, I've always ran a total of around 200-300 watts RMS.. the output was one clean sounding system. It wasnt excessive at all, but it sure could bump hard and still emit very clean sound.

Now, I am going with a 5 speaker setup since I no longer have rear seats (replaced with a roll bar). I will be using 2 6.5" Infinity mid-woofers in the door, my 12" dual voicecoil Infinity sealed sub, and my 2 Infinity EMIT tweeters. I will be using my custom 40gb MP3 player.

If only I had more time.. I havent had time to install the MP3 player and sub.. but its coming together.

The keg from Kenwood is an awesome MP3 player that is just like a CD changer (if you don't like to monkey around with interfacing crap)
