Getting ready to do my clutch and was thinking about a light weight flywheel.
Racetep.com does one based on a stock one for $160 (about $200 once you ship it there and back) and weighs in about 15lbs...the fidanza is 11lbs.
Anyone have recommendations/pros/cons of either?
My other performance mods are catback, hi flow cat, header, intake...

Never heard of/experienced Racetep.com.
I had a fidanza.
Used it, liked it.

From experience, 11lbs maybe too light for everyday driving
if it's a dedicated track car then disregard the previous statement.
I also have never heard of racetop.

I wish I could drive a car with one ... I think I am going to go Fidanza. Less variables.
I am going to sell my car later this year or next

what do you recommend for the KA24DE? I need to buy a flywheel so I can get this all done in one day.

15-16lbs is pretty good on a daily
sporty and good response
11lbs Blitz active on an SR made stop-and-go traffic and hills hell for me
I would try the Racetop since the price isn't bad

it's racetep actually. I have googled them and read decent reports. Nothing on the 240SX side of things.
I think I am going to give them a go...I can get a flywheel for $60 from autozone or $100 from NAPA...I am hoping I can have it dropshipped directly to the machinist.
Stock is about 25lbs+...16lbs is a good middle ground.
I see a lot happy with the Fidanza but it's mostly SR20 guys, but I also see many complaints esp stop and go.

go with racetep and then do a write up on what you think.

The JUN chromoly flywheel is the best all around for daily use, it's a good balance of weight without being too light. The Fidanza is a good piece too but will require getting used to a lot more, but it's also cheaper. I like the feel of the lighter one more but a lot of people have mixed emotions.
Racetep seems to just shave the OE flywheel a little, any machine shop can do that, but there's not a lot of meat on a KA flywheel to take off. Some OE flywheels just have more mass and therefore can be shaved more, but I've been told by two different places in the past that you couldn't go much more than 3-4lbs. on the KA one.

ka with a fidanza feels like a stock car (if not a stock 240). my girlfriend drives that shit up and down hills with no problem. my stock dd civic is harder to drive in comparison. don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I drove on an 11lb Fidanza for over two years with an Exedy Stg 2 clutch(3 puck) and did just fine.
Hills did suck though.
Got used to stop and go traffic fairly quick(LA traffic is horrible).
Overall, I liked it.

I have the Stage 2u+ competion clutch that comes with there Ultra-Light Flywheel on my KA-T. Holds 450rwtq and it's my DD. I haven't noticed much difference in this setup over the previous (stock) except for the grabby clutch.

It's not really complaining on my part
I used to drive 1-1 1/2 hrs stop and go on the 405
and after a few years it just became a pain
that's actually what we've done
taken a stock flywheel and remove the weight ourselves
then take it to a place to have it balanced for $30

Friend has one and loves it
I still find it difficult to believe that Jun actually made this for a KA

I found them on websites for like $400+....that's about double the Fidanza. Same weight roughly as well.
Anyone know a place closer to $300?

i would have to agree with you that Jun and Toda Racing is the best all around for the SR as well as many others.
i had them for 10 years now and is still the best i've used. i've driven other cars with different flywheels in the past these are still the and its worth your money.
dont cheap out and go for the aluminum flywheels cause shit can happen. if i can find the thread somewhere on i would but there is drawbacks upon aluminum flywheels due to failure when you reach a certain amount of torque

I had fidanza 9lb flywheel. Act 6 puck un-sprung with Ext pressure plate. nismo 2-way lsd. Daily driving was not a problem at all. I don't get whats the big deal people saying Its harsh for daily. I drove stock flywheel and my flywheel. I didn't have any trouble with either.
Go Aluminum flywheel!

I am selling the car later and right now am not running any forced induction...torque shouldn't be an issue.

That was a rare case where the guy admitted he improperly installed it. I ran a Meuller flywheel (sold by Stillen) for over a decade and loved it, aluminum is fine but a lot of people don't like the sudden drop in engine speed between shifts. Just something to get used to, but either one you choose you're going to see that. The superlight ones that are less than 10lbs require a lot of quick shifting, especially on a turbo application.

Fidanza plus B&M short shifter is the way to go in my opinion. As much as I'd like the Jun one it's simply out of my budget currently for this car. Besides I like the fact that for the Fidanza all I have to do is buy the replacement inner disc.

Nothing I don't get what people are talking about. I had 9lb fidanza and 6puck unspruung with the Ext pressure plate. The most harsh engagment you can get. I did hills just fine. I had 10lb act in my EVO 8 with a Act 4 puck unsprung did hills just fine.

I LOVED my fidanza flywheel on my KA. I ran it with essentially a stage 2 ACT clutch setup, and it was perfect for AutoX and daily driving.....when the KA ran that is.
I just wish fidanza made one for the CA :(

Does no one run the Rb20 flywheel350z clutch setup? WTH? I have a Toda lightened RB20 flywheel and an Exedy 350z clutch and plan on dropping it on the car soon. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

i have a fidanza. noticably lighter but its not as bad as i heard it to be. the rotational mass is lightened but not enough to encounter any major issues.

the ride home tonight was fine on the Fidanza and a LUK oem clutch..
I have to baby it and there was no feeling of a stall or anything odd.
The pedal on this new clutch is freaking light though...my throwout bearing was screwed though.

HA. I have a Fidanza flywheel with a LUK Pro Gold clutch. I've never had any problem with hills and I live in Asheville, NC. I also used to go to Denver, CO a lot and never had any problems there either. Dunno if I just got used to it or what but I like it a LOT better than my stock flywheel.

I will have to do more driving on hills to be sure it's not that much different than what I had...but so far it's not that much different starting off or shifting.
Now I do shift fast...I have been with many that sort of take a 1 mississippi - 2 approach...that's not me so maybe that's why I am not noticing the revs dropping.
Also I had been driving on absolutely no clutch. It was metal on metal with the clutch disc bolts actually grooving the flywheel...I am probably mostly rev-matching anyway.
I will post back here in a month or two once I get out of the breakin period.

Just an update...passed the 500 mile mark a couple days ago....been driving anytime I have a chance to get out of this break in period.
Shifter is smooth now. Before it vibrated. My previous clutch was totally shot. I switched to new mounts and still had the problem. If you have done this and your shifter still vibrates, replace the clutch if it's old.
I still have grinded 3rd a few times slightly...I think I am not pushing the clutch pedal down enough.
Starting out is fine...I really don't have a problem. I am on a few hills, but I am also in S. Florida so they probably don't count.
I did stall a few times the first week.
