SAD News

[Steeles]

Fellow Zilvia memeber Phlip aka phil was in a very serious car wreck late Sat. night. He is still in ICU and recovering. He's been battleing swelling on the brain and a skull fracture. His recovery is going well the swelling and pressure on is brain is lessening very well no paralysis, he's still very responsive. he had been to responsive when they brought him in and had to be sedated down to coma status but they are lessening that now. I waited to post this untill he had at least reached this point in his recovery. he's not out of danger yet but is definately headed there. his family asks for your prayers and promises he'll be back to annoy you all soon enough (yes they are as crazy as he is :) ) I've havent been in to see him yet but i've been there to see his family and will keep you all posted as I learn more. I saw the car and Phils lucky to be alive. I'll let him post the pics when he gets back.

He's up here at Moses Cone room number is 3311(?) Iirc. I can find out for sure in a bit. I count it a good sign that hes at MC if his injuries had been worse they would have sent him to Duke Med or Chapel Hill, so small victory there.

he currently cant have anything in his room (ICU rules) but as soon as they move him to a regular room we can get something together and send it too him.

I posted this because a friend is hurt. when he is better and feels like it then you can ask him what happened. till then I would appreciate it if you would delete your post or edit it one. no one else was involved in the accident though to answer one of your questions

AMEN WaKe--I feel the same way about Phlip. This is absolutely horrible, but I'm glad he's still with us. I don't care about his car--it's replacable--but he isn't.

and now for an update, fearing leakage in his circlitory system they ran 3 cat scans tues. found no leakage none on xray either which means no need for surgery. cat scan also showed his heads healing nicely. just a matter of time. everythings looking good for a relatively speedy recovery. at least out of the danger stage.

Not to be a downer or anything, but option vids, and car stuff might not be the best thing for gifts for someone in a major automobile-related trauma. Sometimes people come out these things the same person they were before with the same interests and perspective, but sometimes it can be a major life-changing experience.

The best gift would probably be cash, because of the enourmous financial burden he and his family will be facing.

I agree some people woulb be gunshy about automotive stuff after something like this but as I replied to masta's insensitive worries.. knowing phil he'll love the videos. but I'll ask him before giving that present to him just for you guys ;)

Well Ladies and gentleman I am happy to report that they took Phil off the ventilator this morning. they had to restrain him to keep him from pullin gthe rest of the tubes and stuff out. :doh: and he's hollering about going home already. not that he's going anytime too soon but still. Leave it to phil to wake up in time for the weekend. his Mother thanks you all for your prayers and for being so supportive during this. (she doesnt know about the get well fund yet either, I was gonna suprise them so we need to hurry and decide whats gonna be done or are we just going to give him the check for whatever he needs it for?) but again thank you to everyone for your support!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D

well I went and saw Phil yesterday. he's doing good. he was up aware and talking some. hes a little too tubborn for the nurses though which is why they have him still tied to the bed. his jaw is broken so he'll be on mushy foods for awhile. but getting better all the time.

They moved him out of ICU, he's still drugged pretty good (despite what he says) and they are fixing his jaw at somepoint today. Im taking him a care package tomorrow; the one on the left is going to visit him with me :) (yes thats phil in the middle for those that dont know)

I remember when we took that picture of him waving his *** in the air out of his car window at the Greenville meet. well our boys doing good. they realeased his jaw this weeke and cut the remainder of the hardware out of his mouth Tues. then he'll be back to normal. we gotta figure out why his home computer dosent want to log onto zilvia without crashing and Im sure he'll be on here post whoring new ideas. thanks for all your support Im sure the big dolt will love you all in that special way for a long time. :D oh and he's throwing a cookout labor day weekend to celebrate his recovery :D

I'M NOT DEAD, YAY!!! I have had by far the worst summer of the 24 I've been given, but things are getting back to normal... As normal as they can be when you have to replace the favorite of all the cars you've ever owned, lost 36 pounds and found new and more interesting reasons to hate people, but that is another story... I went back to work about 2 weeks ago and will be replacing the car in a couple weeks here, I'll decide S13 or 14 when I am in position, but steeles and the guys have thrown out the dragnet to everone in the area that I am looking. Okay, this compluter at the house isn't shutting down my IE when I come to zilvia now, thank goodness, so I will be around to post more... Steeles knows the skinny on where I stand in life now. I went back to work at the beginning of september, worked 2 weeks and got back to the 50+ hour work weeks because I ENJOY 20+/hour for overtime and need to stack the dough to get another 240 and work on this bullsh**t celica my brother gave me at the same time... I have yet to decide whether the 240 will be a 13 or 14 like I had before, problem is that all I keep finding in the area right now are either red or automatic. I hate red and don't want to think about not having a clutch and stick. All is looking well for me, I will eventually locate one and will probable wind up paying cash for it if I get an S13 at the rates they are going for around here.

Chesters sounds like a good idea, except for that pesky fact that I work til 1130 on mondays... Fridays after work and saturdays are always open for me, like old times. 8:00am; change oil, 4 quarts of Mobil1 10w/30, 1/2 quart STP additive...
9:00am, wash 2 loads of clothes and make breakfast, a turkey omelette and coffee...
11:00am; catch up with Jaimee and get 2 new tires, Kumho ecsta 711s, size 225/45-17s, to match the rears I had gotten about 3 weks earky...
12:15; catch up with Valarie, the nice lady who STARTED my dreadlocks and has washed them for what has been almost 4 years now...
3:00; time for work, it's saturday and AT&T Wireless will NEVER see me for less than $20.00/hour...
6:30, Granny's house, I eat chicken salad, a couple of grilled barbecue chicken breasts and a turkey burger...
7:30; Brandon (Steeles to you) and I have been text messaging all day and we have established with a close friend of ours, Jason, that we will meet at Clebration Station at about 8pm...]
8:30 (I'm late once in a blue moon) Celebration Station (ask steeles) I SLAUGHETER everything moving in Soul Calibur 2 and eventually beat the game on my initial $0.50...
9:00; we go out and buy tickets to the go karts and make asses of ourselves drifting around the last turn until about $20.00 has been expended by each of the 3 of us...
10:30; Me: Jason, Brandon, I'll catch up with you at the shop tomorrow.

I would learn that about 20 minutes after that turn I remember and only about 3 minutes from the house, I would swerve off of the road and roll, then flip my car and in the process break my jaw and shoulder... I would go on to sit in the house all summer and communicate with EVERYONE only through IM and text messaging on the cellular phone, all while having scared the SHIT out of all my family, friends and (now ex) girlfriend... I have since been convicted of a DWI (0.13 BAC) and lord knows how many financial hardshipsa as a result. No one has told the story out of respect for me to this point, but I felt it necessary at this point to do so. Fellow Zilvia.net members... DO NOT drink and drive.
