S13 black roof: Yay or Nay?

Well.. after much deliberation, i'm finally gonna get my car to be one shade of red. But also one shade of black. The Car is going to be all red, but i decided to paint the roof black. I think it'll have an old school flava to it. What do you guys think?

yah.... I think it would look nice on a s13... but there is a oronge s14 in alot of the magazines that has a black roof that looks really bad! I don't like it at all. But on a s13 I think it would look nice. Later-

Do you have a hatch or a coupe? I say do it if you have the hatch, no if you've got the coupe. Also, tinting your windows would go a long way in getting a nice, clean look after you've painted the roof.

Man you guys need to stop doing this. Everythread somehow swerves off topic into mourning over JDMRICEs car, he's not dead, just the car, more than half of us barely know anything about his car, other than what we can see, cars die everyday get over it, he already has another one.

Now back to the black roof, I say go for it. I am thinking about telling the body shop my car is at to paint mine black. Just need to know how much more tht would be.

i say go for it. If i ever repaint my car, i will get a black roof. Who cares if its a trend, doesnt change the fact that it looks good. if its a hatch, black roof and colored body look good. For the coupe, i like the classic two tone.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I was reading some older (2001) BM and DT's (japanese mags) and I saw a bunch of this sort of thing. A dk purple 180 with white A pillars and roof, a Black one with the same thing with a white hood and white headlight covers, etc... They look kinda ugly, but its the principle that is cool. Like a pink car. Its not a good color, but if you are cool enough to have one... then it looks good. Thats how i feel about the white roof. If you car was so hooked up and you wanted to stand out at drift/track events... real cool. If your car is BASICALLY stock, it will just look weird imo. Doint let that stop you from doing it, I am just pitching in 2 pennies.

p.s. Richard's DK purple roof was the sh!t. It looked sooo much better than just straight black. Yah the color was Black pearl with red metal flakes, but since the black was a blueish-black the end color was purple. It was the hotness up close.

my buddy did his its in the shop now stripes are coming off. he was gonna do his whit with black roof and wanted to paint my roof white (works for a bodyshop = hookup :D) but now I think he's going all black with it

yeah, back when I had my DSM 1g gsx turbo it was white with a black top, I think all the DSM 1g turbo cars had black tops from the factory.

I was thinking about painting my s13 fastback roof black, because of my DSM I had, well thats what gave me the idea anyhow.

Oh one thing, black roofs get pretty hot in the summer.....so keep that in mind.

Just the roof and the pieces that were already black. Me and my brother too lazy to remove the glass and the hatch and everything. :D

how much would a shop charge to paint your roof black? i have been wanting to have it done for like 3-4 months now. do you repaint your pillars also? and yes, black roofs are the new hotness, especially on red, i am running the maroon color myself. did you do it yourself w/ a gun and compressor? or duplicolor spray cans? or what, also what shade of black did you use? i was thinking corvette black, or camaro black. .....the blackests of the blacks

On an S13 hatch, it looks great.. on the coupe, I dunno. As for the S14, I dont think it looks good.. just my opinion. But, we do what makes us happy. BTW, painting a roof black cannot be trend. Its like removing the damn pinstripes, its just a preference.. Zelda my friend. Kind of like how you like men. :) book book booka!
